Commissionaires Southern Alberta

While we had the Commissionaires Centennial Baton & Flag for the cross-Canada tour, we visited many clients and commissionaires. As a symbol of comradery and tradition, the baton was passed throughout Southern Alberta – from Calgary to Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and CFB Suffield. These wonderful engagements will be a mark in the Commissionaires’ history as Canada’s largest private sector employer of veterans. Last week, we were honoured to meet with Calgary Mayor, Jyoti Gondek, who we learned has family connections to the military! We appreciate the opportunity to celebrate the upcoming 100-year anniversary of the Corps of Commissionaires across Canada with Mayor Gondek and some of our veteran commissionaires. We would like to welcome George Veenhuysen, BA, as a new member to our Board of Governors. George is Founder and President of VQM Systems Ltd., a small independent Research and Development company specializing in number theory as it applies to public key cryptography. George has over twenty-five years of combined law enforcement (Calgary Police Service), corporate security, and investigation experience in both the public and private sectors.  His Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Calgary, Canada complements his experience. George has served on several non-profit boards and looks forward to contributing his knowledge and experience with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires to help achieve their primary goals.
