🌟 Good morning, LinkedIn Community! 🌟 I had the pleasure of attending the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA) Annual General Meeting at the Calgary Petroleum Club. During the event, I had the opportunity to speak with Niek de Winter and Scott Desautels, CRSP, CET, about the next proposed revisions to the Canadian Model. For those unfamiliar, the Canadian Model is a Best Practice Alcohol and Drug Policy designed for stakeholders in the construction, maintenance, and oil and gas industries across Canada. If you're interested in learning more, you can find the latest version here: Canadian Model Version 6.1 (https://lnkd.in/gmyvwapW). We also discussed some proposed changes in transportation of Alberta Size Modules, a topic critical to the industry. The event kicked off with Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA) President Blake Ronellenfitch, and Mark Banham from ConocoPhillips delivered the safety moment, sharing insights on the differences between the apprenticeship systems in the UK and Canada, and how the UK's system positively impacts safety performance. Tracey Hill, Executive Director at COAA, provided an overview of COAA's structure and the current initiatives underway. Gabriela Urrego, P.Eng, Co-Chair of COAA FLIC - Fundamental Leaders of Industrial Construction, spoke about their mentoring program, which is doing incredible work to support future leaders in the industry. Finally, we heard from Jihad Traya of the Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association (AIHA), who gave a compelling presentation on opportunities within Alberta's Industrial Heartland. It was exciting to learn about the AIHA’s business development efforts, especially a study comparing the construction costs of a Blue Ammonia Plant between Alberta and Louisiana, showing only a 4% cost difference. With Alberta's operational reliability, low natural gas costs, and over $90 billion in projects in the pipeline, Alberta's Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) advancements are making the industry more sustainable than ever. Looking forward to seeing Alberta's economic engine firing on all cylinders once again! #COAA #ConstructionIndustry #CanadianModel #SafetyFirst #IndustrialConstruction #AlbertaEconomy #AIHA #Sustainability #CCUS #BusinessDevelopment 🌟🏗️💡
