Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators
Non-profit Organizations
We promote, advance, and support effective paramedic regulation in Canada.
About us
The Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators (COPR), founded in 2009, is comprised of self-regulating colleges and government regulators of the Paramedic profession in Canada. The purpose of COPR is to facilitate collective and collaborative action in current and future interests of pan-Canadian Paramedic regulation and to support the development of a common understanding of provincial and federal obligations that may impact regulator functions. COPR administers the paramedic entry to practice examination for seven regulatory jurisdictions in Canada and serves as the single point of entry and body responsible for the preliminary assessment of credentials for internationally educated paramedics.

Today, we remember those who carry the burden of the residential school experience and renew our commitment to truth telling and reconciliation. Widespread public acknowledgement of the painful history, continued impact, and intergenerational trauma of Canada's residential school legacy is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

Have you ever wondered how COPR creates its Entry to Practice Examinations? The following video explains the well-established process known as “examination blueprinting” used for developing each examination. An examination blueprint is a “roadmap” which outlines what a new EMR, PCP, or ACP needs to know and be able to do to work safely and effectively. We encourage you to share within your networks as appropriate! French video to follow. https://lnkd.in/gHevAKQ2

COPR celebrates International Paramedics Day which was created and is organised and run by the College of Paramedics in the UK. The day recognizes paramedics and emergency medical responders around the globe and the vital role they play in people’s lives in almost every imaginable situation. Did you know that, in Canada, provincial paramedic regulators have the legislated authority to grant registration/licensure/certification to individuals to practice as paramedics. Some regulators utilize COPR to assist them in assessing credentials of international applicants prior to those applicants completing provincial regulatory requirements. This past fiscal year, COPR received 29 international applicants from such countries as Australia, South Africa, the UK, and others. Visit https://lnkd.in/d_qjuaD8 to learn more about the initiative, and https://lnkd.in/d2TpHrye to learn about COPR’s assessment process.

There is still time to participate in our Examination Blueprint Survey! The deadline has been extended to tomorrow, May 22, and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. This is an important element in the implementation of PERRs and COPR values your input. Thank you.
Hello, Earlier today, COPR posted a request for support in completing an examination blueprint survey. It was brought to our attention that a link to the ACP survey was not working properly. The links in the attached are all now working and we again ask for your support in sharing/participating. Apologies for any confusion and thank you for your consideration.
