Meet Tony Casey, one of our dedicated body technicians at Craftsman Collision in Vernon, BC! Tony began working with us on December 6, 2021 and has been an invaluable part of our team since then. A Lifelong Passion for Cars Tony's attraction to becoming a body technician stems from his love of cars, a passion he's nurtured since a young age. This enthusiasm for all things automotive drives his dedication and skill in his work. Craftsman's Apprentice Program What Tony appreciated most about Craftsman's apprentice program was the supportive and inspiring co-workers. He found their guidance incredibly helpful, particularly from mentors like Niko. Love for the Job Tony's favorite part of his job is the variety. "No job is the same," he says, "there's always something new to work on." This constant change keeps his work exciting and fulfilling. Career at Craftsman In addition to his role as a body technician, Tony has also helped with pre-painting, showcasing his versatility and willingness to help wherever needed. Advice for Aspiring Technicians Tony’s advice for anyone considering a career in the autobody trades is simple but powerful: "Don’t be afraid to try." His journey is a testament to the rewards of taking that first step. Life Outside of Work When he's not at Craftsman Collision, Tony enjoys skiing, biking, and spending time at the beach. He's also passionate about working on his own project car, fueling his love for automobiles. Meet Jake Goose, our Shop Manager at North Van West! We're thrilled to introduce you to Jake, whose journey to this role has been as diverse and dynamic as the roads he loves to travel. Hailing from the scenic landscapes of North Vancouver, Jake's passion for cars ignited at a young age, flipping through automotive magazines during ferry rides and tuning into the adrenaline-fueled adventures of Top Gear. His path took an unexpected turn when he donned the mascot suit for the Victoria Royals WHL team, showcasing his flair for fun and community spirit. But Jake's drive didn't stop there. Armed with a business degree and a hunger for success, he joined Craftsman as a parts coordinator, and then estimator, quickly proving his mettle and climbing the ranks to assist in operations and training at Craftsman's head office. Now, he's taking the wheel as Manager of our bustling North Van West shop, where his dedication to exceptional service promises to steer our customers through the autobody repair process. "Being in a car accident is never fun," Jake reflects. "The service we provide is the solution to a stressful situation for our customers." But when he's not leading his team in the shop, you'll find Jake tackling his next challenge on the open road, participating in road and trail races, including grueling 100 km ultramarathons. Craftsman Collision Empowering Futures, Building Success. Jill of All Trades is happening today at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. It's an all-day event that Craftsman Collision is proud to sponsor and participate in. It is led by female mentors aimed at inspiring young women or those identifying as female in Grades 9 through 12 to explore careers in the Skilled Trades. Participants can look forward to an engaging day filled with hands-on, in-the-shop activities. It has been a great opportunity for participants to tour the BCIT facilities, and engage with industry professionals like Craftsman Collision's very own Ally Latter, Red Seal Refinisher, and Bianca Then, Red Seal Technician. The workshop that started it all is BACK! APRIL 6TH, SATURDAY @ 11A - 2P PST Car Maintenance 101 is back at Craftsman Collision along with our friends at The Bad Academy. We have partnered together to teach those who identify as women all the basics of how to maintain your whip! How is the suspension of your car? Which fluids need to be filled and monitored in your car? How are your brakes doing and is it normal for them to make that sound?! HOW DO YOU CHANGE A TIRE?! In this workshop you'll get to know the basics of car maintenance and more importantly, what to do in an emergency situation. We will walk through the anatomy of a car, why car maintenance is so important, and give you a guided tour of what's good under the hood! We're sold out of in-person tickets! Career Fair for Girls and Young Women - Dream It Be It! Soroptimist International hosted a career fair for young women at Carson Graham High for ages 16 to 21. Young women from across the City of North Vancouver and West Vancouver came together to participate in workshops and to hear and meet inspiring women from various interesting and non-traditional careers, trades, and professions.
