CreateTO is the City of Toronto’s real estate agency and a catalyst for city building.
About us
CreateTO is the City of Toronto’s real estate agency and a catalyst for city building. The agency brings together stakeholders, partners and community members to create opportunities to ensure the best use of the City’s real estate assets for today and tomorrow. Toronto has more than 8,000 properties within its real estate portfolio. And, CreateTO has a team of real estate and development experts that are continually looking for new and better ways to use those assets. For the first time in Toronto’s history, one agency has been given the mandate to take a strategic, whole of government, city-wide approach towards the delivery of real estate services. The onus is on CreateTO to be practical, fiscally responsible, and to deliver value to the City and the people who live here. CreateTO is committed to working with our partners to build a more livable city – and that means identifying opportunities to pursue initiatives like building more affordable housing, creating transit-oriented developments, establishing new parks, cleaning up brownfield sites, and restoring heritage properties. Working in partnership with our City partners and stakeholders, CreateTO has the potential to have a tremendous impact on creating more livable, inclusive communities across Toronto.

At CreateTO, our team of talented women are at the heart of shaping transformative city-building projects across the city. On this International Women’s Day, we honour their impact, celebrate their achievements and continue to inspire inclusion and #AccelerateAction for gender equality. Happy #IWD2025!
As we approach International Women’s Day, the City of Toronto would like to acknowledge and celebrate our ten women councillors who, under the leadership of Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, provide inspiration for future generations wishing to enter politics. Throughout the City in all aspects of our work, we understand that significant barriers to gender equity remain. Leadership matters. Representation matters and with the right action and support, positive progress can be made for women, including cis and trans women, everywhere. Together, we #AccelerateAction toward a more inclusive, equitable, and empowered future for all. The Toronto sign will be lit purple tomorrow to celebrate International Women’s Day. Check out the geothermal work underway at 50 Wilson Heights Boulevard!
50 Wilson Heights Blvd. - Transforming Commuter Lot into Eco-Friendly Housing Geothermal drilling has officially begun at 50 Wilson Heights Blvd. — converting a city-owned surface parking lot into a mixed-use, transit-oriented community. Developed by Greenwin Corp., KingSett Capital and Tridel, in partnership with the City of Toronto and CreateTO, this project will deliver 1,484 new homes, including 520 affordable rental units, a park, child care centre, community space and improvements to the public realm – all next to Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)’s Wilson Subway Station. Aligned with the City of Toronto’s TransformTO climate action goals, 50 Wilson Heights Blvd. meets the Toronto Green Standard through its geothermal-powered design. Diverso Energy's system will serve the heating and cooling needs of the first buildings in the development, reducing their carbon footprint while also lowering energy consumption, water usage, and long-term maintenance costs. Watch now as our crew guides a fleet of truck- and track-mounted rigs through the snow, drilling boreholes for the geothermal system that will power the future community. Very sad news. Paul Bronfman will be missed. He had a determination and passion for the film industry that was so infectious. His contributions and legacy will be long felt in our city and country. What a legend. I feel privileged to have had the chance to work with and get to know him. On behalf of our team at CreateTO, our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
It is with incredible sadness that we note the passing of our former founding Chairman, Paul Bronfman. Paul was a passionate and vocal advocate for the Canadian film and television industry, not only by his involvement in Pinewood Toronto Studios, but also as Chair and CEO of Comweb Corp and William F. White, co-founder of North Shore Studios and Spark Camera & Lighting, a film producer, and philanthropist who championed worthy causes within and outside our industry. Pinewood Toronto Studios would not exist today, had it not been for Paul’s dogged support and determination to save the studios (then Filmport) during a downturn in the industry shortly after its doors opened in 2008. Paul, along with other investors, purchased the fledgling purpose-built studios and as more production flooded into the City, he and his fellow owners built up the facilities to meet expanded demand for production space. After selling his stake in the business to Pinewood Group in 2023, he remained a dear friend and advisor to the leadership team, who valued the frank advice and unwavering care he shared with and for us. Our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues. Paul will be greatly missed and we will be forever fortunate to have known and loved him.
