This year has seen a notable decline in the market for end-of-life ships, with prices plummeting over $100 per light displacement ton. Currently, typical prices hover in the mid $400s, shaking up the industry landscape. In India's bustling ship recycling yards, activity remains robust, highlighted by several recent sales; Boss 7 fetched an impressive $473, while Sofia 3 was sold for $455. Meanwhile, across the border in Pakistan, recyclers are facing economic challenges and have remained largely inactive. Over in Bangladesh, there’s been some movement with two significant sales: Armada Sejati at $470 and Fatma Sari at $488. Although India is currently leading the pack in terms of pricing, the overall trend is a downward slide. It’s worth noting, too, that Turkey hasn’t reported any recent deals, adding to the sense of uncertainty in the market. About us
Deep Water Recovery specializes in cleaning up the marine environment. It also provides ship repair services and helps salvage, disassemble, and recycle marine vessels, barges, locomotives, and large track amounts. Brief History: Established in British Columbia in 2016, Deepwater Recovery Ltd (DWR) is involved in the salvage, dismantling, and recycling of marine vessels, barges, and railroad assets such as locomotives and large tonnages of track. Our customers include large maritime companies and national rail companies. Our assets include real estate, heavy equipment such as cranes, barges, heavy transport, and processing equipment, which provides vertical integration for our operations. In 2019, DWR purchased a 111-acre property in Union Bay (Vancouver Island) that is a multi-zoned property that includes a 15-acre Industrial Marine (IM) site and a 27-acre water tenure specifically for vessel recycling. Mission Statement: Deep Water Recovery is dedicated to providing vessel recycling services to Canadian Shipowners and Operators who are committed to a responsible, "whole of life" concept for their vessels. We strongly support Canada signing the IMO convention (Hong Kong International Convention) for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships. Vision Statement: Deep Water Recovery Ltd., with a view towards environmental responsibility, has responded to a growing need throughout the Province of British Columbia and Canada to deconstruct derelict vessels, barges, and decommissioned locomotive equipment. All the steel generated from DWR’s recycling operations is shipped to Nucor Steel in Washington (US), which is melted into new steel products and returned to Canada as a rebar.
