Definity Foundation
Non-profit Organizations
Canadian national philanthropic organization that supports climate, health, social and economic justice.
About us
The Definity Foundation supports communities across Canada in pursuing climate, health, social and economic justice. With a particular focus on equity, we support solutions that address systemic barriers, especially those faced by Black, Indigenous and other racialized communities. Seeded with proceeds of the 2021 demutualization of Economical Mutual Insurance Company, the Definity Foundation works with diverse partners across the country to create positive change. We believe that those with direct experience of systemic barriers are the best positioned to implement solutions that will uplift their communities. Through partnerships, providing resources, and support for new approaches to complex problems, we’re contributing to a healthier, more equitable and just Canada.

📢 Results from our fifth annual state of the sector survey are now available: https://lnkd.in/gQ7yMbmh. Over 1,000 nonprofits, charities and grassroots organizations across Ontario responded, and the data is disheartening as policymakers continue to ignore our sector’s alarm bells. Not all hope is lost. The realities and trajectory of our sector can be changed if governments, nonprofits, and the public take some action. How? Our policy report includes data analysis, as well as recommendations on next steps. All survey resources including the technical report, and an amplification package, can be found on our survey page. Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey, Environics Research, and our partners for supporting this work. 💚

On Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in 2021, One Day's Pay launched a grassroots movement calling on settlers and non-Indigenous people to recognize the tragic history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and to honour survivors, their families, and communities. Over the past three years, Canadians have raised nearly $750,000 for Indigenous-led projects, movements, organizations, and nations in response to this call to action. Guided by The Circle on Philanthropy, One Day’s Pay continues its mission to support Indigenous communities by transforming philanthropy and redistributing wealth. There’s still time to contribute to this important initiative! #OneDaysPay #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousLed #Philanthropy #SupportIndigenousCommunities #Reconciliation
Today is National day for Truth and Reconciliation, it's important to take time to listen to the invitation Indigenous Peoples have generously offered. Honour the missing and acknowledge the lasting impacts of residential schools. Take action - support an Indigenous-led organization by donating one day’s pay or what you can give today at onedayspay.ca
