The 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 & 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 30𝘁𝗵 is an opportunity for us in Canada to honour the resilience, dignity, and strength of survivors and intergenerational survivors, while also remembering those who never came home. This week, in addition to providing information and educational resources to our network of team members, our parent company's community giveback initiative, 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 donated $10,000 to the 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀' 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 (www.irsss.ca).    In the spirit of our values: We Love People, Connection, Challenge, and Growth, we invite you all to share support on this day, wear orange, and continue on our combined path to reconciliation and empathy.

This Slam Day was one to remember 🤗 Thanks to our community and the hard work from our Gardiners Road location, we're so proud to announce we raised over $3,000 in support of BGC South East ❤️ Established in 1993, this incredible organization has decades-long history in providing high-quality child and youth programs in our community. Thank you to all those who came out to enjoy some delicious food for a deserving cause! 🥞

We are delighted to announce the incredible results of the national fundraising initiative we held earlier this Summer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC), in partnership with Northland Cares. For over 110 years, BBBSC has worked within local communities to ignite the power and potential of young people, championing the health and well-being of youth. We successfully 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 $21,000 by donating $2 from every order of our delicious Berry Stuffed French Toast Slam received between June 11 - 25 in participating locations. Thanks to our amazing and valued guests, this substantial amount will go towards providing Canadian youth with the opportunities to reach their full potential and ensure a strong continuation of support for local communities. We are so proud to be able to help make a meaningful difference in the lives of Canada’s most vulnerable populations and within the communities we serve. Delicious food for a good cause - that's what Slam Days are all about! Earlier this month, our Kingsway and Richmond locations worked together to raise over $9,000 for the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation 🥞 From amazing food to fun prizes, this Slam Day was one of the books 🤗 Thanks to YOU, we're able to give back to our communities and help make the world a better place. Introducing our Humanitarian of the Year, Alfredine Linda Plourde! 👏 It's our pleasure to announce that Alfredine, one of our beloved servers at Denny's Hamilton, recently won the Humanitarian of the Year award 🤗 With a passion of advocating for children's rights in Canada, leading the Protecting Canadian Children group, she's authored educational materials, organized protests and lobbied officials for reforms. For those who haven't met Alfredine, here's a quote from her below so you can read about her story and get to know her a little better: "In 2015 I needed to take a break from my work as a support worker after the death of my last palliative client. As a result, I decided to apply for a job at Denny's Although I intended to stay for a short time, I have been with Denny's since 2015. Because of my involvement with Protecting Canadian Children at Denny's, I was fortunate to have a supportive workplace and amazing co-workers with evidence-based support, especially when I was awarded or needed time off from a meeting at the last minute. Denny's employees' moods and attitudes significantly influenced how I felt at work and contributed to a good work-life balance. My sincere appreciation goes out to the compassionate staff at Denny's."
