📸 *Snap* 📸 We've been out capturing new photo and video assets in the Northern BC and Thompson Okanagan regions this fall to support current and future Iconic brands. ⛰ In September, we collaborated with Northern BC Tourism Association to produce b-roll and photo assets to support the recently launched The Great Wilderness Iconic brand. Brian Peech led a production crew and group of on-camera talent to capture remote locations in the Northern Rocky Mountains. 🛣 Earlier in October, we led a second asset production trip featuring a family road trip in the Thompson Okanagan region. We couldn't have asked for better conditions and even captured the northern lights! 🔎 Select assets from these trips will begin to be featured in marketing materials in the coming months and released on BC Content Hub following the launch of the full family of Iconic brands next fall. ➡ Learn more about the Invest in Iconics Strategy on our website: https://lnkd.in/g9rKjbpw #BCTourismCounts #ExploreBC

👨🏫 Our Senior Researcher, Jarrah Rubinstein, was at the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) Canada 2024 Conference in #Charlottetown, PEI last week presenting our work on Resident Perceptions of Tourism research. 📌 Earlier this spring, we expanded partnership opportunities for our Resident Perceptions of Tourism research to provide more tailored community-level information, align research efforts across the province, and provide guidance to communities new to conducting this type of research. We observed growth in community and government partnerships as a result of these changes already and anticipate further growth in the years to come. 💡 Our Resident Perceptions of Tourism research findings are available on our website: https://lnkd.in/gazjWVD6 Thank you to the conference organizers for inviting us! #BCTourismCounts #Research #Conference

🦉 Bringing The Great Wilderness to California – Travel media in Los Angeles got up close and personal with wildlife during a media event we recently hosted in support of The Great Wilderness brand launch this month. To help bring The Great Wilderness to life for our media guests, we invited Canadian Geographic's 2023 photographer of the year, Brandon Broderick, to lead a wildlife and nature photography workshop for travel writers representing Matador Network, Travel + Leisure Co., Outside Magazine, Smithsonian, AAA Explorer and more. 🏞 Through the workshop, Brandon shared photography tips and stories of his own experiences with the big nature and wildlife of The Great Wilderness, including tracking a family of lynx through a snow-covered forest, chasing northern lights, and getting his feet wet chasing waterfalls. Following presentations from Brandon and our Travel Media team, media guests had the opportunity to practice their newly learned photography skills with Archie the Owl. ➡ Learn more about The Great Wilderness: https://lnkd.in/eswgUe7h #BCTourismCounts #TheGreatWilderness #Iconics #TravelMedia

Earlier this month (October 9-15), Destination BC hosted a robust familiarization tour for a group of travel trade and travel media from China. The trip involved sightseeing in Vancouver, followed by a journey aboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Banff, and activities in Richmond. Hosted in partnership with Destination Canada China, Air Canada, Rocky Mountaineer, and Alberta partner Banff & Lake Louise Tourism, the tour focused on the Rainforest to Rockies Iconic route with an emphasis on seasonal growth. Destination BC has remained active in the China market through efforts in social media, strategic FAMs and co-op marketing, and partnerships. Visitor arrivals from China to BC have shown signs of recovery despite challenges with air capacity, with travellers using alternative air routes. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gsKHq4JE
