On World Suicide Prevention Day - we remember loved ones we have lost and those who are struggling. Today, we also remember our mission which is always to cultivate a culture of mental well-being within Canadian farming communities. Let's raise our voices and break the stigma surrounding mental health, today and everyday. Together, we can be the light that guides someone out of the darkness. Remember, you are never alone. Reach out to friends, family, or a professional if you or someone you know is struggling. Your story is important, and there is hope. If you are looking for ag mental health resources, Do More Ag has national, provincial and regional supports listed on our website at domore.ag. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #SuicideAwarenessMonth #SuicidePreventionday

The national voice & champion for mental health in Canadian agriculture.
About us
We are champions for the mental wellbeing of those in the Canadian agriculture industry and are changing the culture of Agriculture to one where all are encouraged, supported and empowered to take care of their mental wellbeing. Agriculture is an industry with a foundation of deep rural roots, hard work, resilience, strength and community. In order to uphold that image, those traits can also be the industry’s weakness as they become barriers for speaking up and seeking help. Those in the Canadian agriculture industry are among the most vulnerable when it comes to mental health issues. Stress, anxiety, depression, emotional exhaustion and burnout are all high in the industry. By collaborating with the entire industry and those working to address the state of mental health in Agriculture, we can and will make a substantial impact!

Take Short Breaks: Schedule brief breaks throughout your day to rest and recharge. Even a few minutes can make a big difference. 3. Practice Mindfulness: Spend a few minutes each day practicing deep breathing or meditation to reduce stress. 4. Often times you will hear us say, "Check in our your mental health" or "Take care of your mental health", but how do we do that? Here are some simple yet effective ways to nurture our minds and practice self-care: 1. Daily Mindfulness: Set aside a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness. Whether it's through meditation, deep breathing, or grounding exercises, it helps center your thoughts and emotions. 🧘♀️💭 2. Emotional Inventory: Reflect on your emotions regularly. Take note of how you're feeling and why. Identifying emotions allows you to address them and seek support if needed. 📝💕 3. Journaling: Pour your thoughts onto paper. Journaling is a fantastic way to express yourself, gain clarity, and release emotions that may be weighing you down. 📔✨ 4. Reach Out to Support: Connect with loved ones or a mental health professional. Sharing your feelings and experiences with someone you trust can offer comfort and valuable insights. 🗣️🤗 5. Set Boundaries: Establish boundaries that protect your mental well-being. Know when to say no and prioritize self-care without guilt. Your mental health is a priority! 🚫🙅♂️

🌱💚 Cultivating a space where our mental health can thrive is similar to how we create an environment where our crops can grow. Just like we invest time, effort, and resources into nurturing our fields, it's crucial to prioritize our mental wellbeing and create a supportive space for our minds to flourish. 1️⃣ Nourishment: Just as crops need the right nutrients to thrive, our minds require nourishment. By creating a mental health-friendly environment, we can provide ourselves with the emotional, psychological, and social support needed to grow and flourish. 2️⃣ Eliminating Toxicity: Just as we remove weeds and pests from our fields, we must eliminate toxic influences in our mental health space. Surrounding ourselves with positive and supportive people, setting healthy boundaries, and engaging in activities that uplift our spirits are essential for a thriving mental environment. 3️⃣ Growth and Resilience: A conducive mental health space allows us to develop resilience and grow personally. It encourages self-reflection, self-care, and self-compassion, enabling us to navigate challenges and setbacks with strength and adaptability. 4️⃣ Prevention and Early Intervention: Creating a safe space for mental health also helps in early identification of issues. By being attuned to our emotions and seeking support when needed, we can catch potential struggles early on and address them proactively, promoting overall well-being.
