Drive Away Hunger

This week, FCC / FAC employees across the country are volunteering at food banks and supporting non-profit organizations to address food insecurity and make a difference in their communities as part of #DriveAwayHunger . I had the opportunity to spend the morning with this great group of FCC’ers at the Regina Food Bank making sandwiches and packing lunches to be distributed locally for the food insecure. Today is #WorldFoodDay, and it’s also #DriveAwayHungerWeek at FCC. Employees across Canada are helping Food Banks and other food security organizations this week as part of #DriveAwayHunger. Today, FCC employees gathered at Regina Food Bank to make sandwiches and sort food donations for people in need.

It was a pleasure to have breakfast with the passionate team at FCC’s Saint-Hyacinthe office, discussing our shared commitment to Drive Away Hunger and food security. Last year marked the 20th anniversary of Drive Away Hunger where the Canadian food industry donated 143 million meals, surpassing our goal of 60 million. This team played a major role in that success so I enjoyed chatting with them about how we can inspire the industry to come together to surpass 160 million meals in 2024. Only 4% of surplus edible food is rescued and redistributed and Drive Away Hunger is helping to change this. I was inspired by the dedication, enthusiasm and ideas each team member brings to this vital program that connects the food we produce with the people who need it most. I’m excited for more inspiring conversations like this and to continue seeing the incredible impact Drive Away Hunger can make for Canadians.
