Our senior writer, Alison Farrington was in Lisbon yesterday, 20 March, at the official celebration of ARI’s Portugal Duty Free refurbishment programme, and showcasing its ground-breaking new walkthrough store concept at Lisbon Airport.
Fellow guests included ARI, ANA/VINCI Airports, refurbishment and design partners, global and local suppliers, joining the Portugal Duty Free team at the iconic Pátio da Galé in downtown Lisbon for an evening of joy and festivities.
The theme ‘Flying Higher Together’ was an ode to the incredible journey that Portugal Duty Free has undertaken since first opening its doors on 1 June 2022, when ARI took over eight airport locations at five Portugal Duty Free destinations. Collectively ARI and ANA/Vinci Airports were celebrating their achievements to date and an ambition to continue their upward trajectory together with partners and teams.
Ray Hernan, CEO addressed the room to open the festivities: “We are delighted to be celebrating, with partners, the launch of Portugal Duty Free’s world class retail proposition here in Lisbon.
You are here because you’ve been instrumental in delivering what is a world class retail proposition in Portugal. I am extremely proud of what we’re showcasing to passengers as they travel through Lisbon, Faro and Madeira, to be followed by Porto and The Azores.
It’s also an opportunity to say thank you to our partners and suppliers both Portuguese and international – for entrusting our PTDF teams to be the custodians of your brands. We’re excited for the future and look forward to elevating the customer experiences together. Thank you also to our refurbishment partners for creating the vision and the reality, in what we now see as a retail environment that reflects the true sense of Portugal. Also, thanks to ARI teams for again, setting a new benchmark for retail in airports.”
