On October 9th, UBC President Benoit-Antoine Bacon and Provost and Vice-President Academic Gage Averill participated in a tour of Emerging Media Lab hosted by Jennifer Burns, Associate Vice-President IT and CIO, and Simon Bates, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President Teaching and Learning.    The tour highlighted EML's innovative solutions to pedagogical and research challenges, showing projects like the award-nominated Judicial Interrogatory Simulator and the Behavioural Biomarker to emphasize EML’s inter-disciplinary nature. Recently, we were able to celebrate the contributions of EML students by awarding the Kirk Karasin Memorial Award. Kirk was a mentor, an innovator, and a friend who constantly pushed the boundaries of what was possible, and in the award's inaugural year, it is important to celebrate the innovative spirit of both him and the award recipients: Jerry Wang, Jiho Kim, and Leah Fernandez. The Annual Summer Showcase is just around the corner! Join EML on Thursday, September 12th, from 4:30-6:30pm, for project presentations, panel discussions, and the opportunity to try out some of the latest innovations in education! Admission is free and RSVP is not required. Event will be hosted in the Pena Room at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
