Congratulations to our own Project Coordinator, Erin Kearney , for her well-deserved Building HerStory Spotlight!
This month’s Building HerStory spotlight is on Erin Kearney, Project Coordinator at Emil Anderson Construction. Growing up in a family of engineers, Erin pursued a career in Mechanical Engineering throughout university. After a while, she was looking for a change in her life and heard that Emil Anderson Construction were hiring for the Kicking Horse Canyon Project in Golden. Three years later, construction proved to be a perfect fit for Erin. Erin believes that more women working in the industry will lead to a community of young girls and women viewing construction as an exciting and fulfilling career path. “Work can become your main form of socializing, and it can be very lonely if you don’t have much in common with your coworkers…That’s what is so great about having more women in the workplace! It makes it more fun to come to work and be able to chat with people with similar interests…The more women we have on site, the less lonely it feels.” Aside from the complex design, construction coordination and successful joint venture of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project, Erin is very proud of how much she developed as a Project Coordinator on that job. We want to thank Erin for being an invaluable team member at the Emil Anderson Group! #BuildingHerStory

One of the most ambitious road upgrade projects in BC’s recent history, the Kicking Horse Canyon Project posed immense technical and logistical challenges. These included unpredictable weather and a record number of avalanches in its three-year span. With Phase 4 completed in time for the 2024 fall/winter season, we are proud to look back and share some photos captured during construction. This final, most challenging stage involved widening 4.8 kilometres of winding highway to four lanes. We’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to our team, partners, and everyone involved in this monumental alliance project with Aecon Group Inc. and Parsons Corporation . #EmilAndersonConstruction #EmilAndersonGroup #KickingHorseCanyon #Highway1

Safety will always be our top priority, with regular meetings taking place to educate staff, address safety concerns, and keep safety top of mind for everyone on our sites.
At EAG, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s a foundational part of who we are at our core. We recently held a mass safety meeting to reaffirm our shared commitment to safe work environments and a zero-injury culture. Leading the meeting was our Safety Director, Steve Howe, who told his story about how a workplace accident almost killed him, altering both his and his family's lives forever. Steve spoke to the crew about the roles that they can play to contribute to a zero-injury workplace, aligning with our core values. #EmilAndersonGroup #Safety #SteveHowe

We are proud to have built an award-winning drill and blast team who has worked on some of BC’s most challenging terrain, from major highways and active mainline railways to active hydro plants and dams. Currently, our team is working hard on the Highway No. 1 - Ford Road to Tappen Valley Road Four-Laning Project. Upon its scheduled completion in late 2026, the project will improve the highway’s safety and capacity, reducing travel times during peak periods and providing safer vehicle access to local roads. #EmilAndersonConstruction #TappenValley #Highway1

A huge shoutout to our own Justin Kowalski, winner of this month’s photo contest! Justin's shot captures the clearing and grubbing work at the MacDonald Snowshed Project on day one.
There’s more to this site than meets the eye. This picture was taken on day one of clearing and grubbing at the Jumping Creek to MacDonald Snowshed Project on Highway 1. Below, you can see the railway and Illecillewaet River, with Fortitude Mountain rising stoically in the background. This is at the east end of the project, just beside the MacDonald Snowshed. Congrats to Justin Kowalski for capturing our photo of the month! 📸 #Highway1 #FortitudeMountain #IllecillewaetRiver #EmilAndersonGroup
