    As we commemorate the 10th anniversary of professor Gabriel Richet's passing, we honor a pioneer and one of the founding fathers of #nephrology whom his contributions greatly shaped this field of study. The story of a young physician in wartime to the chief of nephrology at Tenon hospital is an exceptional intertwining of resilience and dedication. Richet's innovations in renal care and transplantation set new standards, his groundbreaking work on percutaneous kidney biopsy and acid–base control left an everlasting mark on renal medicine.His warmth, mentorship, and intellectual curiosity inspired countless nephrologists,  establishing a legacy that is ongoing. Today, we remember not only the achievements of Gabriel Richet but also the humanity and joy that he had brought to colleagues and students alike. The model examines factors like age, race, BMI, heart failure, and functional status to predict the likelihood of kidney function recovery within 90 days and 12 months after starting dialysis.
