Monitoring and constantly assessing during firefighting operations for thermal runaway in electric vehicles, is crucial for firefighter safety. 🚗 ⚡️ During our Firehouse Training event in Midwestern Ontario late last night, we covered the importance of using thermal imaging cameras, heat guns, and air monitoring for hydrofluoric gas to assess the risk. If the battery’s temperature falls below 60°C (140°F) and remains stable with the use of various LIB undercarriage firefighting nozzles, it’s a positive sign that thermal runaway has been suppressed. This careful monitoring is key in our risk assessment during incidents. Stay informed, stay safe!🔥 #FirefighterSafety #ThermalRunaway #EVFireResponse #FireSafety #ThermalImaging #HeatDetection #HydrofluoricGas #LithiumIonBatteries #RiskAssessment #Firefighting #EmergencyResponse #SafetyFirst

🔥 Know Your Flow: The Key to Effective Firefighting 🔥 At Firehouse Training, we emphasize the importance of understanding your flow rate and the volume needed to fight high-rise fires, industrial fires, and electric vehicle fires. 🚒 Whether you’re battling a high-rise blaze, tackling large industrial hazards, or managing the complexities of an EV fire, getting the right amount of water or foam on the fire is critical. Our events focus on mastering flow rate, using Task Force Tips nozzles to ensure firefighters are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to handle any situation. ⚡🚗 Remember—knowing your flow isn’t just about numbers. It’s about being prepared, staying safe, and making every drop count. 💧💥 #KnowYourFlow #FirefighterTraining #FireSuppression #ElectricVehicleFire #HighRiseFirefighting #IndustrialFireResponse #FirehouseTraining #TaskForceTips

Firefighter Training Tip 🚒 In our recent training classes, we’ve been focusing on the importance of leaving larger diameter fire hoses on the ground to manage the weight of the water and nozzle reaction. This technique not only helps conserve your energy by letting gravity take some of the load, but it also gives you more control during long-term firefighting operations. 🌊💪 Plus, staying low with that nozzle has another big benefit—it keeps you below the high heat and thick smoke that can build up fast in a fire. Keeping the nozzle reaction at the ground makes it easier to stay down, where visibility is better and the air is cooler. 🌫️🔥 And remember, watch that bale during training unless you want to give someone a surprise shower! 😆💦 Train hard, stay low, and stay safe out there! 💪👨🚒 #FirehouseTraining #HoseManagement #StayLowStaySafe #FirefighterTraining #FireSuppressionFun #SafetyFirst #StayDry

During our recent Firehouse Training events in beautiful Northern Ontario, we covered essential skills for auto-extrication with electric and hybrid vehicles. Our training included: • Peeling and peeking behind the A, B, and C post plastic for hidden high-voltage wiring. • Safely disconnecting the EV First Responder Cut Loop and the 12V battery to manage power throughout the vehicle. • Avoiding any orange-colored high-voltage cables. • Properly stabilizing the vehicle to prevent any movement during extrication with large diameter wheel chocks. • Keeping a safe distance from battery packs and high-voltage components. These procedures are critical in ensuring the safety of our firefighters during electric vehicle incidents. 🚒⚡ Great work from everyone involved! #FirehouseTraining #EVExtrication #FirefighterSafety #NorthernOntarioTraining #FirefighterSkills #SafetyFirst
