About us

FLX Hockey is a premier high-performance hockey skills training program located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). With a focus on unlocking the full potential of every player, we cater to individuals of all ages and skill levels, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to reach their goals. At FLX, our focus is on training players to make quick decisions, getting their hands, feet and mind in sync at high speeds. We focus on drills that push players out of their comfort zone, forcing them to make a lot of quick moves in tight spaces, engaging their feet and mind to open up ice for themselves. By providing these game-like scenarios for our players, they learn to be proactive with the puck, forcing them to start thinking steps in advance as to what their next play might be. We create an environment where players can connect with like-minded players to aim and elevate their skills to achieve greater success both on and off the ice. We are committed to staying ahead of the game by continuously updating our training methods and staying informed about the latest industry advancements. Our goal is to provide you with the most effective and innovative training experience, equipping you with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the fast-paced world of hockey.

Deflecting pucks while driving the net is an important skill for any minor hockey forward to learn if they want to continue scoring as they get older, stronger, and face more competition. Despite ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”.๐Ÿ% ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐‡๐‹ ๐ ๐จ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐›๐ž๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐œ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐›๐ฒ ๐ซ๐ž๐๐ข๐ซ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ž๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, this is a skill often not worked on by minor hockey players or skill development coaches, but gets lots of focus at the junior & professional levels. Here we see U14 AAA Mississauga Sens Forward Brodie Potvin, demonstrating great deflections. Brodie was not always a great deflector, but has drastically improved his tipping ability through FLX Hockeyโ€™s โ€œHigh Repetition, Instant Feedbackโ€ philosophy. ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ. ๐’๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  / ๐’๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐€๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ž ๐Ÿ’ - Youโ€™re looking to provide the shooter a target so he can put the puck in an area for you to get a stick on. This becomes more difficult when you are being boxed out by the d man protecting the front of his net, making it crucial to fight for stick and body positioning on your way to the net. - Your blade angle when you make contact with the puck will determine what trajectory the puck takes after you tip it. When you are tipping, it is also very important not to try to โ€œswing at the puck with your stickโ€. Put your stick in a position/angle where the d man has it as a target, and as the shot comes in, let the puck hit your stick and redirect off it, without any โ€˜baseball-like motionโ€™ in an attempt to tip the puck. ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ. ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐Ÿ’ - When driving the net for a tip, your goal is to get on the same page as the dman/shooter. You want to make eye contact with the shooter while you show your stick as a target, as he quickly scans his option. If they are under pressure with the puck, which the shooter often is, yelling โ€˜FRONTโ€™ or โ€˜NETโ€ is a great way to quickly indicate to the shooter that their could be a chance to get a puck on net when they are under pressure. ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ‘. ๐’๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ข๐ง ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ญ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐›๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฃ๐š๐ฆ ๐ข๐ง ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐œ๐ค๐ฌ ๐Ÿ’ - Whether you get a piece of the shot or not, it is A MUST that you stop in front to jam in any loose rebounds (which their often are after deflections because the goalies reaction timing is now off). So many goals are left right in front of the net, but players driving the net either fly by the rebounds or donโ€™t battle hard enough for these rebounds in front of the net. All it requires is that players learn simple form and technique, and mostly importantly get repetition and feedback that they can apply right away.
