Let's play... What's in the Box?! This is our food box from our July program 😍 Of course, you can't see everything, but there is sooo much in there! Picking our food is done with kids in mind- what they like to eat, what they need, and what they can prepare for themselves. We always want to include food kids WANT to eat, including fun snacks like Bits and Bites or a yummy pack of cookies. Everybody deserves a sweet treat! When discussing food insecurity it is important to remember: we want children to be FED! A child needs to eat, even if: - they don't have a parent present to cook for them - they don't have access to many cooking tools - they don't have an oven or microwave - they are a picky eater Discussions of health are important, but ensuring children get to eat is the main priority. Ensuring fresh fruit and vegetables in a key component for both or summer and school year programs to help children get the vitamins they need. Our dynamic Executive Director, Sarah Thatcher, has been announced as semi-finalist for the Canada wide Charity Village Fundraising Award! Many do not see the countless hours that Sarah puts into our organization while also pursuing her Masters in Philanthropy and Not For Profit Leadership at Carleton University. Beyond her work as executive Director, Sarah advocates for the youth in our community and the families they belong to, addressing food insecurity and affordable housing. Sarah brings high energy enthusiasm into everything she does and thinks about the big picture. She is an absolute gift to Food4Kids Muskoka and we are all incredibly proud to celebrate this HUGE deal just a little over a year into founding this chapter of Food4Kids.
