  • This morning, we provided an exclusive tour to stakeholders and media of a dedicated hydrogen lab at UBC Okanagan. The lab was developed in part through our Clean Growth Innovation Fund and is being used to better understand how hydrogen may work within our gas system safely and reliably. With the right policies, research and investment, we believe that hydrogen can be a game changer for British Columbia’s energy future: https://lnkd.in/gAXHEBn7

  • The Tilbury Phase 2 LNG Expansion project will allow us to continue reliably serving our customers in a lower-carbon energy future while providing economic growth for the region, province and country. It was a pleasure presenting to the Delta Chamber of Commerce on the project’s positive economic impacts and how the people of British Columbia and beyond will benefit.

  • The recent cold weather brought a spike in energy demand for both our gas and electricity systems as they worked to keep homes and businesses warm. The gas system delivered 19,523 MW of energy, and the electricity system delivered 739 MW. Our energy systems are built to work together to meet peak demand. The gas system continues to play a critical role in meeting peak energy demand during the winter with its ability to easily and affordably store large volumes of energy. On the coldest days, gas and electricity customers can use up to 160 per cent more energy than an average winter day. The ability to rely on both gas and electricity ensures a resilient, reliable and balanced energy system. As the winter season continues, check out our tips to help customers manage their energy use: https://lnkd.in/ggcAsVRU

  • The ability of sport and community to drive positive change was the focus for our president and CEO, Roger Dall'Antonia, as he spoke at the Invictus Games 2025 cauldron lighting ceremony. Supplied with energy through FortisBC’s gas system, 100% of the cauldron gas is designated as low-carbon Renewable Natural Gas.     The Invictus Games are an international sporting competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, highlighting the remarkable resilience of those who have overcome unimaginable challenges.   We are committed to supporting events that have a lasting impact to create a better, stronger and more inclusive British Columbia.

We’re making progress as a critical energy provider supporting B.C.’s lower-carbon energy transition. Last week, Minister Brittny Anderson visited our Hazer Group Limited hydrogen pilot rig in Kitchener, B.C. This innovative project explores methane pyrolysis technology, a first in Canada, to test hydrogen’s potential in reducing emissions. It aligns with the government’s climate goals and is supported by the CleanBC Industry Fund.

  • As we prepare for colder weather, it’s important to remember that energy use for heating typically spikes during these times. Even with a relatively mild winter so far, it's crucial to manage your energy use effectively. To help manage your energy use during cold weather, try these simple tips: • Seal drafts around windows and doors • Use energy-efficient appliances • Monitor your energy use • Heat only the areas you use These small changes can make a big difference.
