𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 (𝟭𝟵𝟯𝟲–𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟳) This Thanksgiving, we are honoured to spotlight 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵, one of Canada’s most celebrated Woodland artists from Long Lac First Nation #58. His stunning piece, "𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝟭" (36x24 inch acrylic on canvas), is now on display at Full Circle Art Gallery. "𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝟭" is a vibrant, symbol-rich painting that captures the themes of 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲. With four birds nestled in the tree’s foliage, Bedwash invites us to reflect on the sacred harmony and balance of life. His artwork, deeply rooted in Ojibwe tradition, draws on teachings passed down by Elders, as well as his lifelong friendship and apprenticeship with 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘂, a leading figure in the Woodland style.
