Last week, FHS had the privilege of visiting KPMG Canada stunning conference space, right in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. The panoramic views were breathtaking, and the opportunity to explore such a prestigious location was a highlight for our group. What made the experience even more valuable was the chance to dive into a different side of hospitality—the world of business and corporate event spaces. A special shoutout to our fellow FHS member, Cristiano Guedes dos Santos, who works at KPMG and gave us an insightful presentation on the growing intersection of hospitality and corporate events. We wrapped up the visit with a tour of the impressive rooms, leaving us inspired by the possibilities in this unique facet of our industry.

Over the summer, FHS had the pleasure of welcoming Todd M. Noftall CHA to present our first LinkedIn workshop of 2024. Throughout the event we were all able to come together to share thoughts and ideas and discuss the impacts of LinkedIn in relation to the hospitality industry. Thank you to Vienna Petretta for putting this amazing event together as well as to all the incredible FHS members who attended and learned first hand how to update and upgrade our LinkedIn profiles to make a greater impact on our industry! Once again, a huge thank you to Todd Noftall for allowing us to have such an insightful experience.

Our last Mentor for this term is here. Greetings to our new member, Thanushan Ramasamy! Some words to share from Thanushan: Hello everyone! My name is Thanushan Ramasamy (Ram); I am excited to start my new journey as a mentor with the new FHS leadership team and contribute to its success. I take this precious moment to thank the FHS team for giving me this great opportunity. I successfully finished my second semester of hotel operations management. I was working as a flight attendant for seven years. While working, I honed my valuable experience in the airline and hospitality industry. I have always been passionate about hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences. After joining FHS early in my college journey, I have grown both personally and professionally, thanks to the insights and events provided by the FHS. As a mentor, I am dedicated to guide other mentees while expanding my industry knowledge. With new events and powerful connections with industry people, I look forward to making a positive impact and learning opportunities for everyone in the future.

Let's welcome our newest member of this year, Mathew Alvin, as our next Mentor! Some words to share from Alvin: Hi, I'm Alvin Mathew, enrolled in H133 Hotel Operations Management, and I am about to start my 3rd semester in the Fall. I joined FHS at the end of my 1st semester; I wanted to learn more about the hospitality industry, and being around a group of like-minded people will help me grow. That's why I joined FHS. I have a keen interest in the Food and Beverage sector in a hotel. Being part of the leadership team, I look forward to learning more about the industry from my peers and guiding like-minded individuals.

Hello Friday! Let's give a huge applause to our Mentor team this term. We are thrilled to welcome our first Mentor, Cristiano Guedes dos Santos! Cristiano has been a member of FHS since September 2023 and recently graduated from the Food & Beverage Management program. With a strong academic background and over a decade of experience in hospitality and business management, including with restaurant companies Cactus Club Cafe and Eataly, Cristiano is currently working for KPMG Canada as a Conference Assistant and now taking over the Mentor position with FHS with the intention of supporting the organization and fostering the development of new members to the hospitality community. 

For this new term, Setareh Soleimaninasab will be our new Coach mentor! Some words from Setareh: Hello ✨ My name is Setareh but feel free to call me Star, I will be the coach Mentor for this year and I hope to show everyone who we (FHS) are! I will be in my third semester of Hotel Operation Management, but what makes me unique is that this is my 3rd degree. I love learning and challenging myself, and I believe that's why I am part of FHS as well :) looking forward to working with everyone! Let's make us shine ✨

Some words from Shruti: Hello, I'm Shruti. Growing up in an Indian family, I was surrounded by the values of hospitality from a young age. My parents and family members consistently demonstrated respect, warmth, and exceptional service to guests in our home, striving to create unforgettable experiences tailored to each individual's preferences. This is the true essence of hospitality, and it has had a profound impact on my life. Furthering my education in hospitality at George Brown College has not only deepened my understanding but also made it a truly enjoyable journey. I am grateful to Frank for introducing me to the Future Hospitality Society (FHS) and inviting me to join this vibrant community, which has become an integral part of my life. As I take on the role of Social Media Specialist, I am excited to learn more about Canadian hospitality while sharing my knowledge and insights with the team.
