I’m very pleased to be afforded the opportunity to co-present with Nils Peterson on behalf of Galore Creek Mining Corporation at the CIM | Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum MRMR conference yesterday. We presented on our recent success in using geologic knowledge and #geochemistry to improve throughput models at Galore Creek, and are excited at the prospect of similar integrative solutions being applied throughout our #geometallurgy scopes in the near future. We are grateful for the invitation from the conference organizers, and appreciate the support from GCMC for permission to present. Photo credit : CIM

Galore Creek provides annual bursaries to support the educational goals of Tahltan students, announcing the recipients each year on Tahltan Day. This year, including the addition of the Ann M Ball bursary in 2021, GCMC is awarding a total of $25,000 to 16 successful applicants. We thank all students for their time and effort. Our committee was inspired by the aspirations and examples of leadership and community involvement demonstrated by each applicant. Galore Creek's 2024 field season wrapped up at the end of September, our crews have now demobilized from site, and our Uhtłān and Ch’iyōne camps are closed for the winter. We would like to extend a big thank you to all of our employees, partners, contractors, and consultants for your hard work towards such a safe and successful season. This year our work focused on data collection for our overall objective of completing a Prefeasibility Study and initiation of a major regulatory process. In 2024 our crews worked over 200,000 hours with no lost time injuries or high potential incidents and completed over 3,400 hours of training, including our newly implemented online site orientation. We flew over 2,400 helicopter flight hours to support multiple scopes of work across the Project including environmental baseline studies, line cutting and falling, pad building, over 4,000m of diamond drilling, over 350m of geotechnical sonic drilling, test pitting, seismic surveys, regional mapping, and various site sustaining activities. A huge congratulations to our field teams for a safe and productive 2024 season. Thank you all and looking forward to continuing our work together to advance the Project!

  • October 10th is the World Health Organization's World Mental Health Day. This year's theme is mental health at work. Safe, healthy working environments can act as a protective factor for mental health. Unhealthy conditions including stigma, discrimination, and exposure to harassment and other poor working conditions can pose significant risks, affecting mental health, overall quality of life and consequently participation or productivity at work. Galore Creek is committed to the health and safety of our people, including employees, contractors, and communities, through promoting a strong culture of safety and wellbeing. We aim to create a respectful, inclusive, creative, and results-driven workplace that focuses on the development of our people. World Mental Health Day is a chance to talk about mental health and how we need to look after it. Increased awareness of mental health is required on all fronts for our understanding to grow and to reduce perceived stigma.
