About us

Gambrinus Malting Corporation is a German-style malthouse creating unique, small-batch specialty malts from premium North American barley and wheat. We have been solidly rooted in the Okanagan of British Columbia, Canada since 1992. Our facilities are situated in the north Okanagan Valley between Okanagan Lake and the Monashee Range, and the beauty and purity of our home is reflected in our products. The original equipment for our malthouses came from Germany and was assembled on site in Armstrong, BC. Our plants combine the best of old world tradition and modern process control. Although our production capacity has increased, we continue to malt in small batches to meet the requirements of artisanal brewers in the US and Canada, as well as throughout the world. Peek in the kettle and smell that sweet wort! Last month the good people at Hidden River Brewing and Requiem Bier cooked up a beautiful West Coast IPA called “The Cause Is Excellent” with RahrBSG’s CJ Penzone. Brewed with Gambrinus Malting IPA Malt and a touch of Dextrin from Rahr malt, the beer’s decidedly dank and tropical hop profile comes from Strata®, Citra®, Simcoe®, and NZ Cascade. Out now for your enjoyment! Thank you to both teams for hosting us! We’d love to visit your brewhouse, too—get a hold of your RahrBSG rep for all the grainy details on Gambrinus IPA and our other ingredients!

  • All of us at Gambrinus Malting had an amazing time hosting our annual customer appreciation day! Talented brewers from across British Columbia came down to the malt house for tours, tacos, and wort tasting with the whole Gambrinus team. One lucky winner went home with a bottle of Gambrinus Whiskey from Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery, and we all had the pleasure of sharing Smedium Tank Top Hazy IPA from Bright Eye Brewing – brewed with Gambrinus IPA Malt. Our thanks to everyone at Bright Eye, Jackknife Brewing, Kettle River Brewing Co., ricochet brewing, Firehall Brewery, Kelowna Brewing Company, and Waterside Vineyard & Winery for making the trip. Our customers are what truly makes Canadian beer great. Cheers!

  • Behold The Great Gambrino, a brilliant West Coast IPA from our friends at More Brewing Co. Featuring 100% Gambrinus IPA Malt and several classic American hops, here's what Head Brewer David Ziebell has to say about brewing with a malt tailor-made for IPAs. "I would definitely recommend it. You get a good IPA profile and plenty of body with the standard single-infusion mash rest. It’s easy, multi-use, and predictable." Get all the grainy details on The Great Gambrino and brewing with Gambrinus IPA Malt at the RahrBSG Blog!
