  • The Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee) joins the many nations across the country today who mourn the passing of a great leader and mentor to many. Justice Murray Sinclair left us today completing his journey peacefully surrounded by loving friends and family. Murray Sinclair will always be remembered as the calm spirt who fought for fairer treatment of Indigenous People in the justice system and for being our guide through the difficult but important path of giving a voice to survivors and opening a nationwide dialogue on reconciliation. Thank you for the work you have done and may you rest in peace knowing that you have inspired many to continue in your footsteps.

  • Congratulations to all the incredible athletes from Eeyou Istchee participating in this prestigious international tournament! It's wonderful to see these skilled teams bringing their talent and competitive spirit to the world stage. Each player wearing those jerseys with pride represents not just their team, but their communities and cultural heritage. To the members of both the Anishnabe Iskwewak and AlgonCrees teams: May you play with strength, determination, and joy. Meegwetch and best of luck to all the athletes! May you have a fantastic tournament and return home with proud accomplishments and wonderful memories from Mont-Blanc. As these teams compete internationally, they're not just playing broomball - they're also serving as amazing ambassadors for Indigenous sport and culture. Safe travels and successful games to all!
