Our headlines are dominated by tariffs and how Canada’s response will counter the economic pressures brought with them. Regardless of the tariffs it faces, the Canadian Oil & Gas industry is ready to tariff-proof the economy and meet the energy demand domestically and internationally.  The Trans Mountain expansion project has already increased international exports, and the coastal gas link operational later this year will do the same. In 2024, 92 liquids pipelines and 132 gas pipelines came online, and 45 liquids facilities and 44 gas facilities have been built. And to date in 2025, 137 liquids pipelines and 125 gas pipelines have been built, and 5 liquids facilities and 9 gas facilities have come online. The 2025 numbers show that we are already outpacing 2024, illustrating the Canadian Energy Industry has no intention of slowing down.  As for future projects, Enbridge announced its plan to invest $2.5 billion to diversify its footprint, with the bulk of the funding going into the Canada/US main line, and for other Canadian projects like expansion of the Westcoast Pipeline. With both projects, GDM recently did a comprehensive review and updated the data. Then there are potential projects like building an LNG terminal in the Hudson’s Bay, removing moratoriums in Atlantic Canada, and removing the dust from Canadian Arctic projects are indicators that the industry is ready to lessen our reliance on a singular market.  To make these future and potential projects a success, we need to clear the roadblocks to build the infrastructure needed to connect Canadian energy to the world. That comes directly from CAPP's recently released 7-point plan to unleash Canada’s energy potential. I highly recommend you read them.
