Last week, Lana Rogers headed to Toronto to support our clients, Black Sheep Mattress Company in hosting their 10th anniversary of the The Campaign for Wool in Canada - The Canadian Wool Council. 🐑 Hosting events can be a fantastic way to activate your space and engage your community but planning how you’re going to do it is a whole other ball game. Looking for insights? Lana’s shared some of her key takeaways below. 👇
Planning and executing an event today has shifted dramatically since the onset of COVID, and creating an experience that truly engages and captivates the guest list is more difficult than ever. Last week I was able to be a part of an event that was a 10/10 in my books. Black Sheep Mattress hosted the 10 year anniversary of The Campaign for Wool. Here's my takeaways on what made it such a success: 1. UNIQUE SET & SETTING: Throwing an event in a mattress showroom may seem wild, but because Black Sheep Mattress created a calm yet beautiful backdrop, guests were pleasantly surprised when they showed up; they felt like they walked into a serene bedroom (while being greeted with Champagne). 2. SMALL CURATED GUEST LIST: With about 50 people in attendance, this smaller guest list allowed people to connect on a deeper level and have more intimate conversations. 3. HEARTFELT NARRATIVES: Finding a way to tell the brand's story on an emotional level to a group can be tricky. The Campaign for Wool created a 10 minute documentary to tell the story of wool and how key partners utilize this material. Many tears were shed and more conversations were sparked. 4. GOODBYE ULTRA HIGH BUDGETS: If all of the above is achieved, there's no need to blow the bank on crazy expensive items. 5. KEEP GUESTS ENGAGED POST EVENT: Just because an event is over, doesn't mean the connections are lost. We had guests sign up to the database to win an exclusive new product. We can now continue to share information on the brand and keep them engaged for the long-term.

When you're a professional yapper, there's no such thing as "too much talk." 😌 Our very own Lana Rogers has been on a public speaking spree, kicking off with Morning Toast, followed by the Interior Design Show (IDS) Vancouver with Amanda Hamilton of Amanda Hamilton Interior Design , the North American Conference on Integrated Care, and most recently gracing the stage at Arts Commons to talk Branding and Marketing in the arts space with Tanya Puka of Marrow Studio. Watch this space to see what's next in the cal for LR so you don't miss out on all that wisdom.

Proud of our partner and pal Lana Rogers of Gentle Lion Communications for her incredibly intentional and innovative work to shepherd the brand for Sabi Mind in a wild new marketplace. Check out this case study! One of our favourite collaborations to date. ✨
Yesterday I had the opportunity to present amongst academics and doctors at the North American Integrated Health Conference. As the lone wolf marketer in the pack, I discussed how to launch a mental health brand in the highly stigmatized industry of Psychedlic-Assisted Therapy (PAT). I got brownie points with the approach: using qualitative data to help determine the target audience and brand positioning, especially in an industry that has no historical data or tried and true models yet. Big thanks to SABI Mind, as they were my case study for this presentation. Because of the openness of this team, we were able to craft a strategic approach that still rings true today: 1. Human-Centred Approach: Anchoring in on the shared human experience. 2. Therapy First Model: Leading with the therapeutic process and highlight Ketamine as the catalyst. 3. Knowledge Sharing: Collaborating with all in this space and sharing processes that have worked. Because of this SABI Mind is one of the only PAT clinics that is still delivering on its promise after 2 years. This is why I get out of bed everyday as a Marketer - seeing unconventional brands making a difference in society.
