Co-founder and CEO at SELECT - The Snowflake optimization and cost management platform (We're hiring!)

I've survived two Snowflake Summits, soon to be three. Here's 10 tips 💡 to make the most out of your week: 1. Plan your week in advance. There's a ton going on, and you don't want to miss out on important talks or events. Spend an hour looking at the Summit schedule this weekend and block your calendar accordingly. 2. Sign up for sessions in advance. They fill up quick. If an event is marked as full, you can still show up in advance and potentially get a spare spot. Not all talks are recorded and posted afterwards. 3. Don't miss Jiaqi Yan & Minzhen Yang's talk on Snowflake query optimization and best practices. I've seen it twice now, and it's packed with practical strategies you can use. 4. Same goes for any other talk put on by someone at Snowflake, especially solutions architects and engineers. A great way to get inside access to the inner workings of Snowflake and build a better understanding of how everything works. 5. Don't be shy. Say hello to at least 10 people you've never met before. Everyone is down at Summit to learn and meet new people. Some of these hellos will inevitably turn into a new job opportunity, friendship, or a resource you can tap for a specific problem or subject. 6. Speakers will stick around after their talks to take questions. Take advantage of this. It's rare to get 1:1 time with such smart people. 7. Sign up for evening events, like the Low-Key Data Happy Hour. They're filled with people like you, doing similar work and dealing with the same problems at a different company. Link to a bunch of events in the comments 👇 8. Talk to vendors. Yes, we're all trying to sell something to you, but we also know a thing or two about Snowflake and were in your shoes not too long ago. I promise you'll learn something new. 9. Bring lip chap. 10. Look for the blue SELECT sign, good times will follow. #snowflakesummit
