Grounded is thrilled to be a part of the 320 Geneva development! What an incredible experience working with such amazing and dedicated people at Niagara Region, Niagara Region Housing, and the City of St. Catharines. This meaningful collaboration ensures more safe and affordable housing in the region.
Mayor Mat Siscoe and the City were pleased to welcome Paul Calandra, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Associate Minister Vijay Thanigasalam to St. Catharines today, to tour the Riordon Street temporary housing shelter, followed by a stop at 320 Geneva St. to talk about the province's $6.1 million investment into housing and homelessness prevention. Also participating were MPP Sam Oosterhoff, Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley and MPP Jennie Stevens. These investments include $2.6 million to help create the Riordon shelter, and more than $3.5 million towards supportive housing at 320 Geneva St. - both projects here in St. Catharines. The City provided the Geneva Street property, which formerly housed recreational staff, to Niagara Regional Housing, and a three-phase project development will include Bridge Housing, NRH affordable housing and land provided for private-market development. The City is proud of its partnership with the Region and recognizes the importance of additional transition and bridge housing for the community.
