On this World Mental Health Day, the theme resonates deeply: Mental Health at Work. The numbers are staggering—12 billion working days lost each year to depression and anxiety, costing the global economy $1 trillion in lost productivity. But behind these numbers are real people, like you, and your colleagues. Each of us carries the weight of daily life, amplified by workplace pressures. For some, getting through the day can feel impossible. And yet, we continue, often silently. But it’s time to break that silence. Workplaces should be spaces where we feel valued, supported, and understood—not just in what we produce, but in how we feel. As leaders from around the world have shared, vulnerability starts at the top. Leaders who share their mental health stories empower others to speak up, too. This World Mental Health Day, let's commit to more than just awareness. Let’s commit to action—building resilient, supportive environments where mental health is a priority, not a side note. Because when we support each other, we all thrive. Remember, it’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay to ask for help. Let’s create workplaces that care. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork #SupportAtWork #MentalWellbeing #WorkplaceWellness #BreakTheSilence #PrioritizeMentalHealth

Today is World Mental Health Day, and the World Health Organization has prioritized Mental Health at Work as the theme for this year. This focus is critical because work impacts our mental health as much as our closest relationships—sometimes as deeply as our marriage or our therapist. Yet, mental health in the workplace hasn’t received the attention it desperately needs. With so many people silently suffering, it’s time for organizations to take a leading role. After a year of bringing Heal-3 into the market, here are the three key lessons I’ve learned: 1. Most companies don’t realize they have a mental health problem – Organizations often see the symptoms: high turnover, burnout, and disengagement, but they don’t connect these issues to underlying mental health struggles. Recognizing that mental health is the root of these problems is the first step toward meaningful change. 2. It’s all about the leader – Leaders who have personally struggled with mental health are usually the ones most open to doing this work. They understand firsthand the importance of a healthy workplace and are more willing to create space for mental wellness efforts. 3. Real change takes courage – This work is emotional and hard. Leaders often find themselves confronting difficult truths. I’ve seen people cry, question themselves, and feel the weight of their leadership. But those moments of vulnerability are where real transformation happens. The best way to tackle the mental health crisis is through organizations. This work has humbled us, pushed us to our limits, but it’s the most important work we can be doing. We’re just getting started. #MentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #WorkplaceWellbeing #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceMentalHealth ##WorldMentalHealthDay

Why are younger generations forced to choose between rent and mental health? A recent CBC article raises critical questions about the tough choices Millennials and Gen Z face. With therapy costs rising alongside rent and living expenses, many young adults are forced to prioritize survival over mental health care. This is more than just an individual issue—it’s a societal one that could have devastating long-term consequences. Mental health struggles, when left untreated, can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and a generation ill-equipped to meet future challenges. Without adequate access to care, the workforce may see reduced innovation, increased absenteeism, and skyrocketing disability claims related to mental health. The impact will reverberate across industries and economies, leaving lasting damage if we don't act now. Why should we allow a generation to choose between paying rent and seeking care that’s vital to their well-being and long-term success? It’s great to see the World Health Organization emphasizing mental health in the workplace. The connection between decent work and strong mental health is clear—when employees are supported with fair working conditions, they thrive not only professionally but also mentally. Poor environments, excessive workloads, or lack of job security can pose serious risks to mental health. Decent work provides a sense of purpose, confidence, and belonging, all of which contribute to better mental health outcomes. Let’s continue to advocate for safe, inclusive, and supportive workplaces that protect both productivity and wellbeing! https://lnkd.in/eA6iyhpk #MentalHealthAtWork #DecentWork #WorkplaceWellbeing #SDGs

Suicide Awareness Day in Canada - September 10 Today, on September 10, we observe Suicide Awareness Day in Canada, a day dedicated to raising awareness, fostering understanding, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health struggles and suicide. Suicide remains a leading cause of death in Canada, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds. It’s crucial to remember that behind every statistic is a person—a life filled with dreams, relationships, and potential. This day is a call to action for everyone to be part of the conversation, offer support, and educate ourselves about the signs of suicidal thoughts and mental health crises. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Support is available, and you are not alone. Together, we can create a world where mental health is treated with the same urgency and compassion as physical health. Let’s use today to listen, learn, and advocate for a more understanding and compassionate society. Remember, every conversation can make a difference.

Recently, we spoke to employees who shared that their workplaces now feel like a never-ending sprint If a professional sprinter spent their days in a never ending sprint we would no doubt worry that they would soon get injured and burnt out. But what about at workplaces, when deadlines, constant pressure, and work plates that are too full? This sense of constant urgency and stress inevitably leads to burnout. #heal3 #workplacewellbeing #wellbeingatwork #humanresources #burnout #storiesofburnout

When resources are limited it often seems that investing in employee wellbeing is the first thing to go. But investing in employee wellbeing is not a nice to have. Our research suggests that on average 70% of workers feel disengaged with this work. Imagine the impact it has on your bottom line to have workers who are not feeling inspired, connected to their work and productive? If you want a thriving business, you need to start by investing in your employees.
