I want to give a really big shout out to Sergeant Jim Ingram and his drone team from the Delta Police Force. https://lnkd.in/gS9HuQhP I was contracted to provide some #dronevideo from the Barnside Harvest Festival by #BarnsideBrewery this past weekend out at Paterson Park in Ladner, B.C. Sgt. Ingram and his team were stationed at the park for the entire event to provide police and community support. To do so they used a combination of officers patrolling the event on foot, accompanied by a small team of officers operating a very sophisticated #drone from above. The drone the department was using is called a #dji #Matrice350RTK. Equipped with 4 high powered LED spotlights, an ultra-zoom RGB/Infrared camera, a constant power tethering system, and an emergency parachute, this drone is the absolute Cadillac of #Surveillancedrones. The spot lights are bright enough to light up half a football field for play. The RGB camera had a zoom that was powerful enough to read the logo on a persons t-shirt from 500 feet away, and the Infrared camera had no issues picking up a persons heat signature in the parking lot at the other end of the field some 750 feet away. The tethering system provides constant power to the aircraft allowing it to hover above event and observe the goings on for hours on end, and the parachute is there in the event of an emergency. Many drones are now supporting a rapid release drone parachute recovery systems. https://www.avss.co/ If something goes wrong they automatically deploy in .5 seconds. Pretty much a basic necessity now for shooting events from the air. I also want to thank Jim and his team for allowing me complete access to his flight operations during the event. That access allowed me to learn an enormous amount about how Police departments like Delta's are deploying some of the best drone technologies available today. In closing I want to say that Working Jim with over the 3 days that they event was running was an absolute pleasure. By coordinating our flights we were able to share the airspace throughout the event, in turn allowing #HiPics to capture some great imagery in the process. This entire experience reminded me what a first class organization the #DeltaPoliceForce is, and how lucky we are in the the community of Delta to have them... #BarnsideHarvestFestival #Loverboy #SamRoberts #GloriousSons #PoliceDrones #LawEnforementDrones

  • Yes... Assessing the condition of your roof, especially for leaks, is crucial, particularly in wet regions. Utilizing a drone with an infrared camera for flat roof inspections is safer, quicker, and often more accurate than traditional methods. For example, this roof in Maple Ridge appeared fine in daytime imagery but revealed a significant temperature anomaly in nighttime infrared images, indicating moisture presence. Such leaks often go unnoticed for years, gradually saturating the insulation. Early detection allows for repairs that can significantly extend the roof's lifespan, while delayed action could lead to the need for a costly complete roof replacement. #ThermalInspection #RoofInspection #RoofAssessment #PropertyManagement #CommercialRoofing

Is Your Roof Ready For The Rain? Knowing the condition of your roof is always a good idea, knowing if you have a leak is an even better one,... especially being on the Wet Coast! Using a drone equipped with an infrared camera to assess your flat roof can not only be safer, faster and less expensive than the traditional boots on the roof inspections, it also often yields much more accurate results. Take this roof I recently assessed for Gulf Pacific Property Management, this daytime RGB picture shows a clean looking roof with no obvious signs of wear or deterioration anywhere. The nighttime infrared imagery tells a completely different story. For starters, the roof should all be the same color, its not... The imagery clearly show a temperature anomaly which most often indicates the presence of moisture. Often times moistures slowly leaks into the insulating material below and steadily saturates it over many years. If caught early, such leaks can be repaired, which can extend the life of the roof by many more years. But, if the leak is allowed to continue unabated, then in a few shorts years the moisture ingress and insulation saturation becomes so pervasive that the only remedy is a complete replacement of the entire roof. Give us a call if you want to get a roof checked out before our wet coast weather begins living up to its name... www.hipics.ca #ThermalInspection #RoofInspection #PropertyManagement #CommercialRoofing

Some days are just a little more fun than others. Spending the day with my good friend Murray Pratt and his crew from Pedego eBikes Tsawwassen last Friday was one of those days. Working with Murray to capture new #dronevideo for his #ebikestore was an absolute joy. Blue sky days don't come every day, and when they do, you have to make the most of them. On this day we most certainly did... 7 batteries later and we were done for the day, I hope you enjoy this very small sampling... #pedegodelta #pedegoebikes #dronefootage #dronephotography #tsawwassen P.S. If you need some great drone footage for your next marketing promotion or social media post, please think of us here at #HiPicsDroneServices

  • Do you need something measured or inspected, with a few close up photos taken safely? 🗼 🏰 What about #infrared photos of your roof, windows or facade? 🏢 Look no further... we do that! 🙂 #hipics #drones #droneservices #dronemapping #dronephotography #infraredimagery

DRONES ARE NOW EVERYDAY TOOLS FOR UTILITIES IN CANADA - It is now commonplace to use drones for supporting analysis and basic engineering work in the Canadian utility industry. They are useful tools. For AMI designs Metercor uses drones to perform site inspections of rooftops, towers, water reservoirs, and more as we design gateway installations. They can measure heights perfectly too. The height is input into the RF propagation modelling so the data used makes the models better. At one time drones were unique and only used by elite engineers. But today they are used by anyone who needs to harvest data and information to inform a new systems design. #metercor #drones #sitesurveys #analysis https://lnkd.in/eywQaS3R

New #Pattullobridge coming along nicely. Looking good #ticorp ! How do you share the progress of your #construction project with your stakeholders? Is there a better way than a short #dronevideo used for construction progress reporting? In this 1 minute video for example, we have been able to convey the state of your project at an exact moment in time. This video can be sent to everyone on the team including your staff, sub-contractors, architects, inspectors and owners. Doing so answers the many questions that are constantly being asked by so many,... without you having to answer their question. Take the basic ones " what stage is the project at now? " how many times is this asked, by everyone, over and over... to " how soon before the job is finished? " well in this case, it looks like its going to be a while... :) to " how soon before you need us out there? " hmmm, might be a little early for landscaping yet... maybe once we start laying down the overhead bridge decks we can look at the timing of bringing in the new soil and sod for the park area underneath the bridge... Drone imagery is quickly becoming an integral part of the construction process for projects large and small. Being able to capture and document the progress of large areas, quickly, and at scale using a drone is a big advantage over the current traditional hand held photo capture methods. I'm using the $1.377 billion Pattullo Bridge project as a great example of how one short site overview video can let everyone know at a high level where any project is at. Further low level shots of each construct provide further supporting evidence. Sending out your weekly #droneimagery provided by companies like HiPics Drone Services keeps everyone regularly informed of the current state of your the project's progress If you have a construction project you want to regularly report on using aerial imagery, please give us a call. #hipics #droneservices #dronesforconstruction Like I said “Looking good Transportation Investment Corporation”, personally I can't wait to use it! FYI target completion date for this #ticorp project is 2024.

I really hope #transportcanada is taking notes on how to NOT setback the #droneindustry by years in Canada. “Recently a handful of Members of the House of Representatives introduced a bill known as the “Countering CCP Drones Act”. This legislation aims to block new DJI products from entering the U.S. market, and could also lead to the revocation of their existing FCC authorizations. If this passes, U.S. operators would no longer be able to access new DJI drones, and their existing drone fleets may even need to be grounded. “ The paid #lobbyist in the great US of A are once again putting their own personal interests ahead of the benefits that the #dji drone technology is providing to the masses. So much of their propaganda is false, go figure. I previously reposted Michael Wall's, "Follow the Money", https://lnkd.in/gYzeV5VA When the lobbyist are being paid by the same American drone technology companies that are producing the inferior technology, its clear what's going on here... And, yes I am well aware that DJI is also paying US lobbyist to participate in this exercise. If they weren't, they would likely already be banned... It's called you getting to tell your side of your story,... not someone else telling your side of your story... History has clearly shown us time and time again that we the Canadian politicians and policy makers, think first,... then act smartly, second... I really hope that history repeats itself in this case. Many Canadian businesses and their families are depending on it. #hipicsdroneservices is but just one of them. " Oh #canada , we stand on guard for thee... " That means in #business too! #uas #djidrones #congress2024 #searchandrescue #publicsafety #lawenforcement

This week on ViewPoints: There is pending U.S. legislation that aims to block new DJI products from entering the market, and could also lead to U.S. operators needing to ground their existing DJI drone fleets. In the article, DJI addresses inaccurate claims, and advocates for a technology-based policy approach that raises the bar on drone security overall. Drones vs Ladders? I sometimes get asked, "John Easton, when should someone have a #drone check out their #rooftop versus just having someone go up a ladder to do it? Let's think about it this way; "If #safetyfirst is the # 1 priority, a person should almost NEVER walk on any of the following types of roofs"... for any reason... Slippery roofs - - Frost, snow or ice on the roof - Moss covered roofs - Wet metal roofs - Cedar roofs - Any type of pitched wet, moss covered roof - 2 steps is all you'll get Steep Roofs - - Any type of roof with an 8/12 or greater pitch - Any metal roof with a 6/12 or greater pitch High Roofs - - 3+ story buildings, & some 2 story buildings - Multi-tiered roofs - especially those requiring multiple ladders to reach additional levels Quick fact - According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (#cdc ), “more than 150,000 Americans require medical treatment as a result of roofing accidents every single year. There are of course roofs that can't be walked on for purely design or structural reasons, ever - Think slate/tile roofs There are also rooftops of all material types that are just past their prime, and that any amount of weight placed on them will cause the rooftop itself, and maybe the inspector, to likely sustain some real damage. 😯 Finally, there are the types of rooftops that a person can't, or just shouldn't try to access by ladder(s), if they don't have to. This video provides a really good example of a condominium that perfectly fits one of these use cases. In fact, this building is fast becoming my favorite new condo to post about. It contains of a pair of connected buildings that together possess no less than 14 more or less isolated flat rooftops, which span areas of the second, third and fourth floors. It also has a total of 32 external balconies that are also located on the second, third and fourth levels, and a very sizeable sloped shingle area surrounding the entire upper exterior flat rooftop areas of both buildings. When you are watching the video just try to imagine what it would take in both time and effort to access, move around, and safely inspect all of the different rooftop surfaces of this building. I was told that this entire inspection job takes 2 men an entire week, if they can find someone willing to do it. Not exactly a quick inspection trip up and down a ladder is it? How many roofing companies have 2 men to spare for 5 days just to climb ladders, and take pictures. So let's ask the question again, what kind of rooftops are best viewed by a #droneservices company? I would start with all of the rooftop types discussed here. If you are wondering, it would take HiPics Drone Services Inc. using 2 men working only ~ 6 working total hours to fully inspect and photograph the same rooftop and balcony areas seen here using a drone. 80 man hrs. vs 12 man hrs.? You decide. Please call us when it's time to know what's happening on your rooftop.

  • Hmmm, so, one of the same US drone companies that advocates banning the sale in the US of one of the best #drone products made anywhere in the world, DJI... Because they are Chinese made drones, and they might be spying on the US drone pilots when flying them, BUT, It is fine with selling their customers their own drone batteries procured from China. Hey Skydio so how do you/we know that these batteries are not tracking our flights, and how do we know that your drones are not tracking our flights if we don't want them to? Begs the question, are Skydio flights being now being tracked by Skydio and the Chinese... ? lol... Real point, if your Company is an advocate of banning the sale of Chinese made drones in the US, perhaps you should not be supplying your customers with Chinese made parts in your drones either, should you? Kind of a bad look wouldn't you say.

"Follow The Money." Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz with $35 Billion in assets under management, and the lead investor in almost all of Skydio's funding rounds, reveals a first time lobbying plan to throw money at tech-forward politicians. “If a candidate supports an optimistic technology-enabled future, we are for them. If they want to choke off important technologies, we are against them,” wrote Ben Horowitz, one of the firm’s founders, in an end of year post, adding that "every penny we donate will go to support like-minded candidates and oppose candidates who aim to kill America's advanced technological future." Is Andreessen Horowitz entering the lobbying world to protect its existing portfolio and its portion of the $562 Million dollars of total funding raised for Skydio? I'll leave that for LinkedIn to decide... #skydio #publicsafety #lawenforcement #lobbying #uas #drones #blueuas
