October 10 is World Mental Health Day! Today, we shine a light on the importance of mental health awareness and advocacy. At House of Friendship, we believe that mental wellness is essential for everyone, both within our organization and in the communities we serve. This year’s theme, "Mental Health at Work," emphasizes the critical connection between the workplace and mental well-being. Creating a healthy work culture is key to protecting mental health. You’re not alone—your mental health matters!

“I think we all have a duty, a responsibility to the community we live in.” Brandon’s story shows us that even small actions can create big ripples of change. As a monthly donor at House of Friendship, he’s turning his past challenges into a commitment to support his community. Read Brandon's story here: https://ow.ly/cCXk50TH8ZK.

For 15 years this has been my professional home. At 51 Charles St, I had the privilege of hosting many community leaders, change makers, volunteers, and program participants. It’s where along with our incredible leaders and admin staff that we strategized and planned of how best to serve our community. Over 4 decades this was the home of many former committed leaders and admin team members. We are grateful for this home and excited that it’s making way for what is most needed for today – Friendship Village! https://lnkd.in/gFF_KNjK https://lnkd.in/g2NHNjuK

Thank you to the Waterloo Region Record for taking the time to write about our Supportive Housing project, this week - Friendship Village. As demolition of our old buildings on Charles Street gets underway, we’re paving the way for an innovative supportive housing complex that will make a meaningful impact in our community. Friendship Village will offer 170 units designed to provide not just shelter, but a holistic approach to housing. With on-site health care and support services, we aim to create an environment where residents can thrive and access the resources they need. This project represents a significant step forward in addressing the need for affordable and supportive housing in our area. We’re committed to fostering a community where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and stability.
