Not every acquisition of a SaaS business means the leadership team needs to change. For Thoma Bravo, one of the largest PE firms out there, working with current management is the ideal scenario. “We always try to back the existing management team,” says Adam Solomon, Partner at Thoma Bravo. “Our view is that the best person to run this company is the person who brought it to where it's at.” The key to turning great innovators into great operators comes down to a few things: 1. The management team must be collaborative, open-minded, self-aware, and coachable. 2. Investors should provide hands-on, operational support and make expectations clear. 3. Both parties must talk weekly or daily to make each other better and stay aligned—not just at board meetings. “No one cares more about the success and the reputation of a business as a founder,” says Adam. “To have that grittiness and resilience and determination is something that you can't always get from the outside.” Hear more about how Thoma Bravo leverages the expertise of founders and their teams in this episode of Private Equity Value Creation: https://lnkd.in/gDCFMwSZ
