On this International Day of Older Persons, we celebrate the inspiring seniors who are redefining what it means to age. From learning to play a new instrument and mastering new language, to overcoming the fear of water, they're proving that the pursuit of passion and purpose knows no age limit. We're particularly inspired by the vibrant community at Sudbury's Kivi Park, where seniors are embracing new experiences, forging meaningful connections, and living life to the fullest through programs like the Senior Health and Recreation Program (SHARP). It's a testament to the power of community. Hydro One's Energizing Life Community Fund is proud to play a role in fostering such vibrant and inclusive communities. On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the strength and resilience of Indigenous communities. "I'm proud of how our community is coming together, supporting one another," says Sharon, a respected elder in Sagamok Anishnawbek who dedicated 45 years to nurturing young minds at the community daycare. Her journey, from being unable to speak her native language openly to proudly teaching Ojibwe, exemplifies the power of cultural revitalization. At Hydro One, we believe that Reconciliation is more than words. It’s about taking action that demonstrates respect and care for one another. It’s how we work together with communities and build partnerships for the future. #NDTR #NationalDayforTruthandReconciliation #OurJourneyContinues

September 30th, Orange Shirt Day, is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR), a time to remember Residential School survivors, honor those lost, and reflect on the journey toward reconciliation. At Hydro One, we're committed to honoring this history. Our Indigenous Relations team organized a self-guided reconciliation walk at our Downtown Toronto office, featuring a tour of our Legacy Space – a warm nook filled with Indigenous art, books, and traditions, created by employees for employees. The walk also encouraged exploration of significant landmarks. If you stay in and around Toronto, or are visiting, bookmark these on your maps: • The Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, a hub for cultural programs and support services. • The Art Gallery of Ontario, showcasing Indigenous artworks like Norval Morrisseau’s “Man Changing into a Thunderbird.” • Nathan Phillips Square, where the Toronto sign will be lit orange on September 30th to honor NDTR. Spirit Garden Project will officially open doors. • Tea-N-Bannock, a restaurant serving traditional Indigenous cuisine. We encourage you to explore and reflect on this important day.
