About us

The Infectious Diseases Research Group (IDRG), formally Diseases Diagnostics and Development (D3), is an academic research group licensed by the MOH and accredited by Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD) that conducts both academic investigator initiated and industry sponsored infectious diseases research, including the development of critical diagnostic solutions. IDRG was officially established in 2019 as D3, and formalized under the Research Institute of St. Joe’s Hamilton in 2020. The group is comprised of experts in the field of clinical diagnostics and infectious diseases. Through the conduct of high-quality research studies, the IDRG’s purpose is to advance the development of critical diagnostic solutions, improve infectious diseases surveillance, timing and appropriateness of treatments, and ultimately the clinical outcomes for infectious disease patients. The mission of the IDRG is to contribute to the advancement of diagnostic testing for both researchers and clinicians in Ontario and beyond, with the ultimate vision of improving care for all Canadians.
