  • On busy construction projects, complacency can cause workers to be struck and seriously injured by materials. Between 2017 and 2022, there were over 400 critical injuries and 37 fatalities caused by struck-bys at Ontario workplaces. Of these, being struck by materials caused 211 critical injuries and 15 fatalities. To prevent serious harm to workers, safe material handling and storage procedures must be in place—including hoisting operations using safe rigging practices.
