It’s the perfect place to visit and an even better place to live!

About us

Considering all that the Town of Innisfail has to offer, it’s difficult to think of reasons not to relocate here. Conveniently situated on the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, Innisfail is a thriving mid-sized community in what some may say is the perfect location. It’s just 15 minutes south of Red Deer, and an hour north of Calgary, meaning whatever few amenities we don’t have are available just a short drive in either direction. But let’s focus on what we do have. The question is: Where do we start? Well, we’ve got a robust employment sector that includes anything from major national corporations to small mom-and-pop operations. We’ve got schools that offer comfortable class sizes and safe learning environments. We’ve got subdivisions that are home to some of the most luxurious new homes in the province. And we’ve got some of the most visited tourist destinations in all of Central Alberta. But that’s just a start. There’s plenty more to this town of about 8,000. And it’s all well worth exploring. So whether you’re considering relocating, are thinking about setting up business here, or simply want to know more, visit us soon.

The following is a statement from Mayor Jean Barclay on behalf of the Town of Innisfail regarding the passing of Councillor Don Harrison: “It is with very heavy hearts that we learned of the passing of our colleague and friend, Councillor Don Harrison, on Friday, November 1st. Don was a true champion for Innisfail, always putting the whole community first and foremost in his decision making and advocacy. Don brought a lifetime of experience to council. His career in forestry with the Government of Alberta culminating in an Assistant Deputy Minister role, his service as a councillor in other communities including time as the mayor of Onoway, and his unbounding enthusiasm to serve on committees, boards, and volunteer organizations, all contributed to his legacy as a community builder. Most important to Don was his wife and best friend Colleen, his family and friends, nature and conservation, and serving his community. He loved Innisfail and always championed to make our community better. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Colleen and their family. Don will be truly missed by all of us, but he will not be forgotten. He faced these past few months with courage and grace. Thank you Don for your kindness, your professionalism, your mentorship, and your infectious positive attitude. Don was simply the best”.

Town of Innisfail Council and Administration continue to connect with local businesses, working to create a prosperous business environment. On Wednesday, October 30 (2024), representatives from the Town met with staff from Enviro Containers Reconditioning & Recycling and Pro Max Transport Ltd. Visits such as these give local business owners the opportunity to connect directly with Council and Administration, but also give the Town a chance to better understand the local business climate.
