An engineer by training, Jefferson Asuzu, B.Tech, M.Cert, MPA. first came to Canada without a career change in mind. But life had other plans, leading him to the public sector in Saskatchewan. Rather than continuing his education in engineering, Jefferson took a bold step to reshape his career and enrolled in the JSGS MPA program. “The MPA program aligned well with my career goals, especially as a public servant wanting to contribute and grow in the public service,” he said. His aim? To gain the skills to contribute directly to society and make a real impact on the quality of life in the province. As one of our newest alumni community members, Jefferson is excited to take on roles that allow him to influence public policy and tackle different challenges.

Student shout-out alert! Congratulations to University of Regina graduate student, Kwaku Ayisi, for recent recognition of his research on how to address barriers Black women face as they seek better health care in Saskatchewan and Canada. His research tackles the problem of low breast cancer screening rates and late diagnosis among Black women which lead to higher mortality rates. Through Digital Research Alliance of Canada | Alliance de recherche numérique du Canada , Kwaku Ayisi was recently awarded DRI EDIA Champions funding for his project titled “Academic Research Made Simple”, or ARMS. Passionate about knowledge and research dissemination to a wider audience, Kwaku states: “The award gives me the opportunity to apply the DRI training I receive to my own dissertation research titled ‘Increasing breast cancer screening participation among Black women in Saskatchewan: Policy tools.’” Congratulations and well done, Kwaku! #UofRegina #GoFarUofR #FGSR_UofR #URGradExperience
