Hey BCIHS tenants! The heatwave is here, and staying cool is essential! Here are some tips to beat the heat: 1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. 2. Close Blinds and Curtains: Keep the sunlight out to reduce indoor temperatures. 3. Use Fans and AC: Utilize fans or air conditioning to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. 4. Cool Showers: Take cool showers or baths to lower your body temperature. 5. Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours. 6. Wear Light Clothing: Opt for loose, light-colored clothes. 7. Use Cool Packs: Place cold packs on your neck or wrists to cool down quickly. Stay safe and cool, everyone! #BeatTheHeat #StayCoolBCIHS #bcihs #bcindigenoushousing #bchousing #heatwave

I had the opportunity to spend time with Gord when he would come up north to speak to the students. He was such amazing man and had the biggest heart. So encouraging. Yes some students were there to hear him play but They all were gifted with a whole lot more. Gord gave them tools for living life. ♥️
On what would have been Gord Downie’s 60th birthday, we pause to reflect on his remarkable legacy and celebrate his enduring impact. As the iconic frontman of The Tragically Hip and a revered solo artist, Gord captivated audiences with his music, but his legacy extends far beyond the stage. In his final years, he courageously devoted himself to shedding light on the painful history of residential schools and advocating for reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Through his impassioned advocacy and unwavering commitment, Gord challenged us all to “Do Something” and actively work towards healing the wounds of the past. Today, we honor his memory by continuing to build a more inclusive and compassionate future. Happy birthday, Wicapi Omani, “Man who walks among the stars.” Thank you, Gord, for inspiring us to be better and for leaving behind a legacy of hope and unity. #gorddownie #tragicallyhip #canadianhero #indigenousally @downiewenjack 🤲🏼🤲🏼❤️❤️
