Today, October 26, is the day of our 30th anniversary! That means an entire generation of kids have grown up going to our programs. Together, we have helped shape a generation of young people and we couldn’t be prouder of all of the young leaders! Also, a BIG thanks to all of our families, volunteers, donors, and partners for being with us for a generation of healing and hope. 💛 Christine McIver, M.S.M., LLD, CFRE Tracey Martin #KidsCancerCare #30years #30Anniversary

That’s a wrap on the first module of our new PEER teens program: Golf! 🏌️ ⛳ We had an amazing turnout for these golf events with our teens and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our amazing and generous partners. Thank you to Silver Springs Golf and Country Club for donating your driving range and putting green for our teens to use and a special shoutout to Katy, Amy, and Nick for donating your time to work with our teens. Thank you to Monster Mini Golf for providing a discount to our teens for a fun night out and for donating your party room for some post-putting snacks. It was spooktacular! Last but not least, a HUGE thank you to LaunchPad Golf for donating four of their suites at the Mickelson National location. We would like to give a special shoutout to Sam Hart, who donated his time as an instructor to work individually with each of our teens throughout the event, and to Scott for helping to set the event up for us. Thank you to all these wonderful organizations for making it possible for us to offer our PEER program at no cost to our families. Our teens had a blast! 😃 To know more about our PEER program, click here: https://bit.ly/4cJDPHg #KidsCancerCare #TeenLeadershipProgram #Golf #PEER

Listen, learn, and reflect. 🧡 As Kids Cancer Care recognizes this year’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our staff will be engaging in a workshop on Decolonizing Wellness: A Shared Trauma-informed Journey towards Reconciliation. Reconciliation is an ongoing process and we’re committed to learning and better understanding the past to help create a better future. On this day we encourage you to get involved and show support. Here are some of the ways you can: 🧡 Listen Engage in events in your city/community: Attend different events in and around your community to listen and learn from important Indigenous voices. These events and interactions provide growth opportunities to inform how you can engage as a better ally. 🧡 Learn Be informed of Indigenous history and the calls to action for the future: Visit your local library and explore the internet for books, articles, videos, and other media to better understand the challenges faced by Indigenous communities and how everyone is moving forward towards change. 🧡 Reflect Wear an Orange Shirt: Learn about the origins of Orange Shirt Day, a grassroots movement that seeks to open discussion on the history of residential schools. Wear an Orange Shirt to honour survivors of residential schools and those who never returned home. #TruthandReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters
