With more people choosing to go alcohol free, remember to include a range of tasty non-alcoholic drinks at your team gatherings. From non-alcoholic drinks like Corona Sunbrew (0.0), Phillips iOTA to Kombucha and more, there are plenty of refreshing inclusive drinks to offer at your corporate gatherings. Also, consider an activity that doesn't centre around the drinking culture. Looking for ideas? Send us a note and we're happy to chat! #NonAlcoholic #EngagementIdea #SipAndConnect

This weekend I caught up with some friends over lunch. We got onto the topic of feedback. It started out as talking about giving feedback in the workplace but then transitioned into a conversation about giving each other feedback.   The reality is, it’s easier not to. It can be more comfortable to not say the thing that should be said. As one friend put it “if I am giving you feedback it means I care about you.”    When in a work environment it can feel scary to give or receive feedback. For the receiver if you reframe it, you can look at it as, this person believes I am coachable. That it’s worth their time to provide direction and to push me to be a better version of myself. This tweak can help take out the sting and remind yourself that it’s an opportunity to grow. For the person providing the feedback, a key part of being in leadership is to coach and develop your team. When you’re dreading it, reframe it as providing support to the person.   Outside of work, it’s our families and friends who can hold up that mirror and share the feedback we need to hear. Perhaps you are miserable in your job and everyone’s sick of hearing about it. They might all be thinking, just quit already! Or maybe it’s the excuses you keep giving for staying in a situation that’s not working for you. It’s the real friends who will help you see what’s going on from an outside perspective and encourage you to take the next step forward, no matter how scary it might be.   A phrase I like to use is “clear is kind” from the one and only Brene Brown. Being clear with your feedback helps ensure the message isn’t lost, you both walk away with a clear understanding of what needs to happen for success.    The challenge is your ability to hear it, and also the ability to deliver it in a way people can hear it.  Radical candour gets measured not at the speaker's mouth, but at the listener's ear. Feedback without care can just be hurtful.    Couple of thoughts before delivering it: ✔ How is my tone? Can I keep it open, clear and kind? ✔ Am I giving context to the situation? ✔ Am I providing the feedback in a timely manner? ✔ What are my intentions? Am I doing my best to set the person up for success?   Do you consider yourself good at giving feedback?  Do you see it as a gift? Let me know in the comments. https://lnkd.in/gu-PmP8S #feedback #leadership #workplacewellbeing #coaching #empathyintheworkplace #peoplefirst #personaldevelopment

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to celebrate the diverse cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. We want to celebrate all Indigenous Peoples, and in particular honour the incredible individuals we have had the pleasure of collaborating with and learning from. Thank you to Madelaine McCallum and her work as an energy mover, Elder Ruth Adams and granddaughter Jessica Adams for their prayers, and the SLCC Cultural Ambassadors Brandon and Cassandra for their traditional welcome. All these people have made an incredible impact on the gatherings we host. We are also honoured for the work we get to do with the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta helping to continue the education about Indigenous Peoples and culture. Thank you to all the Indigenous Peoples who advocate for Turtle Island. Your guidance and support is what our world needs. We are committed to learning and continuing to participate in reconciliation. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #NationalIndigenousHistoryMonth #NIHM2024

Sometimes the simplest tactics are the best. When we reflect on how we would like to be treated and treat others the same way, we create humanized businesses. One study (by Social Market Foundation featured in Forbes) found that happy employees are up to 20% more productive than unhappy employees. That's good for business. Happy and productive people. That's a win win. Who's in! #EmployeeEngagement #EmployeeWellbeing #CorporateCulture #Culture

We are back planning the Partners in Tourism 18th Annual Golf Tournament hosted at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club. We love this event because it brings tourism industry leaders together all for a great cause, supporting up-and-coming tourism professionals through educational bursaries. This event is Partners in Tourism's flagship fundraiser and includes an action packed day on the green featuring incredible hole sponsors followed by a gala dinner, as well as a silent and live auction all hosted at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. We can't believe the response to this event! We have already sold out of foursomes! No surprise, we've been told it's the highlight of the summer! We're grateful to work with such a wonderful board on this incredible event! @partnersintourism #partnersintourism #fundraising #events #corporateevents
