CHEO was the first hospital to offer Family Support Packages, a program started by Phoebe Rose Rocks in honour and memory of Phoebe. Diagnosed with infant leukemia, Phoebe and her family often had to travel far from home for treatment. Phoebe found joy in receiving mail, and care packages always brought a smile to her face. Inspired by these moments, her family created the Family Support Package Program to bring comfort and support to other families facing childhood cancer. We are grateful for CHEO's continued partnership and dedication to supporting families during their most challenging times. We also want to extend our thanks to Phoebe Rose Rocks and Tali's Fund for their collaboration on the Family Support Package Program, which helps childhood cancer families across Canada. Each Family Support Package includes $350 worth of gift cards to help with expenses like gas, food, and other needs while a child is undergoing cancer treatment. These packages are sent to hospitals, where social workers distribute them to families who must travel long distances for care or are experiencing financial hardship. https://lnkd.in/ejUN2bmG

For Canadian families facing childhood cancer, accessing advanced treatments often requires travelling long distances for clinical trials. While these trials may offer promising new therapies, they can come with significant costs associated with transportation, accommodation, meals and other expenses. These pictures were shared by a family who received support from the U-Link Patient & Family Fund, along with the following quote, "Family Fund has been able to help cushion the impact of our daughter’s health situation. Migrating to a new country and facing a daunting health challenge can be tedious on everyone. Thank you U-Link Patient & Family Fund for your timely and kind assistance. Our family is ever grateful." Kindred Foundation, in partnership with Phoebe Rose Rocks, created the U-Link Patient and Family Fund to provide financial assistance to Canadian families who must travel to access clinical trials for their child, adolescent, or young adult with cancer. Each family can receive up to $2,000 annually, to help ensure that travel cost is not a barrier for families and that cancer treatment is within reach for every child. https://lnkd.in/drpuiwM4

Cocktails for Kindred with Phoebe Rose Rocks was an incredible evening and we could not have done it without you. A huge thank you to the amazing team at Nate's Deli. Not only was the food delicious, but your generosity and efforts went above and beyond. The live music by Shawn Tavenier was incredible and brought the night to life. Thank you to Jenny for sharing Phoebe's story and to Tamy from Little Press Co for sharing Griff's story and helping to raise awareness about childhood cancer. We are grateful for all the auction items, those who attended, and everyone for your ongoing support. Big thanks to John Gomes for leading the team in organizing Cocktails for Kindred and everyone on the Phoebe Rose Rocks Committee. We appreciate you! Over $20,000 was raised for our Family Support Package program which provides financial support to families with a child in cancer treatment. Packages contain $350 in gift cards and are given to families by Social Workers when they need it most. We believe in Doing Good, Giving Back, and Having Fun - Cocktails for Kindred was exactly that. Thank you for a fantastic evening.

Kindred Foundation had the opportunity to visit a Treats & Treasures Cart for the first time! It was incredibly special to see one of our Carts in person and to witness the joy brought to patients and families. In the oncology clinic, we saw the sweetest patient pick a Lego set after her dressing change. And when we went to the in-patient unit, a little girl ran out of her room when she saw the Cart roll by - she didn't want to miss it! We loved watching pick a treasure from the Cart and her smile when she found the toy she wanted. Thank you to Southlake Regional Health Centre for bringing us along to see the Treats & Treasures Cart in action. It was the best day and one that we will never forget. #TreatsandTreasures #joy #Childhoodcancer The EVAN Foundation
