Electronic skin (e-skin), a groundbreaking innovation introduced by Dr. Dutta in 2023, is poised to transform advanced medicine and real-time diagnostics. This technology mimics and even surpasses the functions of human skin, offering flexibility and comfort. E-skin can be integrated into smart bandages, wristbands, and other devices for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of vital signs such as temperature and heart rate. When implanted, e-skin forms a direct digital interface with the nervous system, displaying a higher-than-expected sensitivity at the implant sites. This allows for more effective communication between the body and external devices. With AI and machine learning enhancing material production and design, e-skin has the potential to revolutionize healthcare by improving sensory capabilities and the accuracy of health monitoring, opening doors to non-invasive diagnostics and personalized health solutions.
