Each year, the Black Female Lawyers Network (BFLN) holds a one-day retreat. OJEN is happy to partner with BFLN to host 30 Lil’ Sistahs - BIPOC women (aged 16-22) to attend the retreat on Monday, November 11 in Toronto. The retreat is open to BIPOC young women in the Greater Toronto and Greater Hamilton Areas who are interested in the law. The day-long event offers opportunities to find out what a career in law looks like, network with Big Sistahs and find inspiration from the stories of successful Black female lawyers. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to register, visit: https://lnkd.in/eGPdjd3p

Indigenous Peoples Resilience Fund and our facilitating partners, Change Agency, will be in Timmins next week and we welcome you to join us if you are; 1. #Indigenous and 2. in #Timmins or from the surrounding area and 3. would like to share how funding can support #AccessToJustice in your community. If so, PLEASE RSVP USING THE QR CODE ON THE POSTER. The Session: On October 24th from 12-4 pm, we are hosting a community engagement session at Northern College. This session is designed to foster dialogue and learn directly from Indigenous community members about their access to justice priorities. Your support will help shape a funding program delivered by the Indigenous Peoples Resilience Fund with the partnership and generosity of The Law Foundation of Ontario which has made an initial $1M commitment, to meet access to justice needs for Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario. One of IPRF's core values is the "Community Knows What Community Needs" and so this is an exercise in participatory #Grantmaking and participants will be respectfully offered an honorarium for their time and community expertise. #Indigenous #Philanthropy #Granting #Funding #Community #ChangeMakers This is the second of 4 engagement sessions we are hosting. Two weeks ago we were in Thunder Bay, next week is Timmins and on November 8 we will be in North Bay. A virtual session will follow for those who can't attend in person. Please share far and wide.
