Unilever is transforming its workforce by using its “Future of Work” program. This includes purpose-focused workshops that are designed to help employees choose their future roles. This can be within the company or elsewhere. We have mentored several new business ventures at UBC including Felix Böck and ChopValue who have had an incredible impact and success in recycling used chop sticks. It’s important for Business Schools to teach students the power of purpose in business and for universities to include this in their curriculums. These Business Leaders of tomorrow need to be aware that business really can be used as a force for good, not only profit and understand the huge societal and environmental impact they could make.
