Around the end of the 15th century, it became the official language. The language then travelled with the Spanish conquistadors to the New World and there it spread and changed with the influence of native civilizations. Today, there are many dialects of Spanish in both Spain and Latin America. Sometimes people wonder which Spanish is best. Although there may be some difference in vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, the truth is, a speaker from Colombia would be perfectly understood by one from Madrid, and a person from Argentina would have no trouble understanding somebody from Cuba or Panamá. During this course we will explore some of those differences so you know what you might find in different parts of the Spanish speaking world.
