Exciting News: Announcing Mental Health Services at LMC Healthcare!   We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new mental health services at LMC Healthcare, with the addition of Dr. Kerris Oates to our team as the inaugural psychologist and Director of Mental Health. Dr. Kerris brings over 15 years of experience in clinical psychology, including in the intersection of mental health and chronic illness management.   Living with diabetes is a journey that involves not just physical health, but emotional and mental health as well. Our new program aims to provide holistic care, offering patients the resources, support, and guidance they need to manage both their physical and mental health effectively.   Our dedicated team is here to ensure that every patient receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs. LMC has been a longstanding supporter of Physician Assistants. During the Pilot Program in late 2000s, LMC was a pioneer in having a PA and successfully integrating the PA to clinical practice outside of a hospital.    Today, LMC has a total of 8 Physician Assistants across the various sites in Ontario. Medical directives, working efficiently with a PA, learning opportunities – we’ve got it all covered! The group is also led by a physician assistant, Priya Narula who has been a PA for over 2 decades!   Anh Tran is a Physician Assistant at LMC who graduated from the University of Toronto Consortium of Physician Assistants. She has been a Physician Assistant since 2015, and has been working at LMC for 9 years. We asked Anh some questions about why she chose to practice in Endocrinology and why she enjoys working at LMC!   Here is what Anh had to say… “Endocrinopathies such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, lipid disorders, osteoporosis, are common conditions that impact a large population in North America; they are common household ailments. Everyone knows someone who is affected by what I treat, and working in this field helps to make a difference in as many people as possible. Being a specialty allows me access to more advanced medications, therapies, support programs, to better patient outcomes.”   “LMC offers good work-life balance. Clinics are Monday to Fridays, no weekends or holidays. As such, LMC allows me to have a career in medicine while also being a present parent to 2 young children. The PA role has long been established with LMC, and the endocrinologists are supportive and understanding of our scope of practice building a good work culture.”   Are you interested in learning more about Physician Assistant career opportunities at LMC?
