We take a patient-centred approach to all of the work we do at Lumiio, which means designing digital health programs that are optimized and empowering for patients. This is particularly important when working in rare disease spaces, where patients and their families often need to become their own disease experts. Digital health tools and platforms can help foster global communities for people living with rare diseases, offering support, information, and opportunities to help further research. Our CEO Blaine Penny spoke with the Health Innovation Hub about health innovation in Alberta, and the exciting future of digital health tools. Read the article: https://zurl.co/1epO

Today we honour international Myotonic Dystrophy (MD) Awareness Day, a rare neuromuscular disease characterized by progressive weakening in musculoskeletal systems and organs. Due to its rarity, it often takes years for patients to get properly diagnosed. There is also no sure for MD, with medical interventions addressing symptom reduction without the capacity to halt disease progression. This is why medical innovation and research priorities are so important to rare disease communities like MD. New insights can lead to new treatments and opportunities to improve patient outcomes! Monuments around the world will be lit up green in honour of this day 🟢 #MyotonicDystrophy #rarediseaseresearch
