About us
Established in 1966, Lycée Louis Pasteur is Calgary's premier French school! Lycée Louis Pasteur welcomes children 3 years old to Grade 12. We are the only school in Calgary to teach the French Ministry of Education and Alberta Education curricula, offering students a unique education. Families from all linguistic backgrounds are welcome to attend Lycée Louis Pasteur. No prior French exposure is needed to enroll in our Maternelle Program (3, 4 and 5 year olds). Classes are taught by a certified teacher and an assistant. Our French Language Immersive Program (FLIP) allows us to welcome new students Grades 1 to 5 with no prior French and includes individualized learning plans and significant one-on-one time with a dedicated teacher. The French curriculum is taught in French by French speakers and the Alberta curriculum is taught in English by English speakers and produces academically-adept students who are truly bilingual. English is taught starting in Kindergarten. Spanish is taught beginning in Grade 6. Upon graduation, Lycée students receive their High School diploma and the Baccalaureat (Grade 12), a diploma recognized for university entrance throughout the world. Lycée Louis Pasteur is a member of a prestigious network of 495 schools in 137 countries. It is the only school in Calgary to be a member of this global network. It was a pleasure to have many insightful conversations (and some fun!) with Gwennaël PETILLAT during his visit at Lycée international de Calgary. He observed and discussed the teaching and learning of oral skills from grade 1 to grade 5 with our teachers 🗣️ He also offered some guidance on innovative ways to create an environment and a feedback loop to enhance our practices and allow students to become even stronger and more confident speakers 🎙️ ✨That’s one of the incredible perks of being an AEFE - Agence pour l'enseignement français à l'étranger school: we are lucky to be part of a powerful professional network that supports best practices, facilitates peer to peer collaboration among over 60 French schools in North America, and provides top notch professional learning to our team!✨

Big kudos to Michael Munshaw from Lycée Français de Toronto for being such a great advocate for the Baccalauréat in Canada, the US and everywhere else!
