🔦 Spotlight on Health Literacy 🔦 Health literacy is crucial for empowering patients to take control of their health. Clear communication and accessible information help patients make informed decisions, leading to better health outcomes. However, only 18% of patients reported feeling very well informed about their healthcare processes, according to the Global Health Literacy Report Card. This highlights the need for health-literate systems that prioritise patient understanding and engagement. ✅ Check out the Global Health Literacy Report Card that Lymphoma Coalition published this year to learn more about these insights: https://lnkd.in/ePXjn-9x #HealthLiteracy #PatientAdvocacy #LymphomaCoalition #HealthLiteracyMonth #lymsm

Another great connection at the UICC World Cancer Congress 🌍 Marjorie Morrison, Director of Policy & Advocacy at Lymphoma Coalition, connected with Professor Joanne Reid from Queens University Belfast, who is also a Global Nurse Consultant in palliative care research and policy with the International Council of Nurses. 🩺 Professor Reid shared details of an innovative project focused on Latin America, specifically Colombia, where a new tool for palliative care assessment is being developed. Currently in the co-design stage of an e-module, the project’s emphasis on health literacy and its impact on the Colombian population is truly remarkable. 🧑⚕️📚 Check out this brief video clip for more on the project 🎥 #UICC #HealthLiteracy #LymphomaAwareness #WorldCancerCongress #lymsm

More news from the UICC World Cancer Congress! Marjorie Morrison, Director of Policy & Advocacy at Lymphoma Coalition, had the opportunity to connect with Sandra Krueckl, Executive Vice-President, Mission, Information and Support Services at the Canadian Cancer Society 🇨🇦. The discussion centred on an important recent analysis of rural and remote populations in British Columbia, focusing on the significant travel needs for blood cancer patients. This analysis highlighted the heavy financial burden patients face, especially when travelling for stem cell transplants. With provincial support, efforts are underway to reduce these challenges, helping ease both financial strain and stress for patients 💸🚗.
