📢 𝗖𝗠𝗠𝗖 𝘃𝟮 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗗 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 The review process for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 continues to make significant progress. On September 13th, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) completed its review of the 32 CFR component, which codifies the CMMC framework into federal regulations. This milestone indicates that the CMMC rulemaking process is moving forward as planned. Meanwhile, the 48 CFR component, which outlines revisions to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), is slated to complete public review on October 14th, 2024. Together, these two streams of rulemaking are on track to trigger Congressional review before the end of the current legislative session, putting CMMC phase 1 on track for implementation in Q1 2025. This timeline means that CMMC clauses will soon become a fixture in the majority of Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, with CMMC Level 1 attestation becoming a mandatory requirement for many defense contractors. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: 1. 𝗖𝗠𝗠𝗖 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸: The latest reviews by the OMB indicate that CMMC v2 is progressing as planned, with the regulatory process expected to conclude by early 2025. 2. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Starting in Q1 2025, DoD contractors will need to comply with CMMC requirements, which will be included as clauses in new contracts. This means that companies wishing to do business with the DoD must achieve the necessary CMMC certification level. 3. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹: Organizations should use this time to prepare for CMMC compliance by evaluating their current cybersecurity measures and addressing any gaps. A new #malware campaign has been discovered, specifically targeting #Linux environments by exploiting #Oracle #WebLogic servers. The malware, called #Hadooken, is designed to deploy cryptocurrency mining software and a DDoS botnet.
